Ten Buck Fridays: Latest Poll (July 11 - July 16)

As the summer heats up, so does TBF. It's here! Your weekly TBF Poll:

Congratulations Van Irion!

POLL CLOSED 12:01 A.M, Friday, July 16

New Poll Sunday, July 18

Information about the candidates...

Van Irion (TN-3)

My core philosophy is that our founders got it right more than 200 years ago when they established the Constitution to protect our God given rights by limiting government. They understood that “government, even in its best state, is but a necessary evil; in its worst state an intolerable one.” (Thomas Paine)

Unfortunately, the Federal government has repeatedly involved itself in issues in which it has no Constitutional authority and has become intolerable. While claiming this or the other act will “solve the problem”, they have done the opposite and complicated the issues...

Fun Facts:
  • Van Irion has actually begun work on a Class Action Lawsuit against ObamaCare.
  • Van Irion has signed a $1 million bonded term limit agreement.
  • Van Irion is fighting a host of Republicans for the GOP nomination in Tennessee's 3rd Congressional District. The Tennessee primary election will be held on August 5.
  • Van Irion on the issues

Christine O'Donnell (DE-Sen)

As a woman of principled determination, with a governing philosophy centered on the core values of the great American tradition and a wide experience in taking on the liberal establishment, Christine O’Donnell is your candidate for U.S. Senate from the First State.

Christine O’Donnell is a nationally recognized political commentator and marketing consultant. She appears weekly, sometimes daily, on national news outlets such as the Fox News Channel, CNN, C-SPAN, MSNBC and ABC, including major ratings hits like “The O’Reilly Factor,” “Hannity & Colmes,” “The Glenn Beck Show,” “Hardball with Chris Matthews” and “Entertainment Tonight...”

Fun Facts:
  • Erick Erickson of RedState.com has endorsed Christine O’Donnell
  • When news of O'Donnell's campaign began to circulate, Bob Belvedere issued a “Major Babe Alert.”
  • O'Donnell hopes to defeat the entrenched liberal Republican Mike Castle in the primary on September 14.
  • Christine O’Donnell on the issues.

Joe Miller (AK-Sen)

Joe Miller is an Alaskan by choice. He grew up in a working class family in Kansas, and headed to the Last Frontier sixteen years ago because of his love for the outdoors. After graduating from law school, Miller accepted a position at a prestigious law firm in Anchorage. Just three years later, at the age of 30, he was appointed as a State Magistrate (the youngest then serving in Alaska) as well as a Superior Court Master for the Fourth Judicial District.

Further honors followed four years later when Miller was appointed an Acting State District Court Judge and, shortly thereafter, U.S. Magistrate Judge in Fairbanks...

Fun Facts:
  • Joe Miller is one of Sarah Palin's "Mamma Grizzlies" (okay, not exactly...but he has received Palin's enthusiastic endorsement.)
  • Miller was awarded the Bronze Star for his leadership in combat during the First Gulf War.
  • If Miller can defeat incumbent liberal Republican Lisa Murkowski on August 10, he will face the Democratic nominee in the fall.
  • Miller's GOP opponent is opposed to repealing ObamaCare
  • Joe Miller on the issues.

Daria Novak (CT-2)

A more defining part of my biography that I don't see upfront on the site is that I am a lifelong conservative and Republican, a former Reagan appointee at the US Department of State, specializing in crisis management, US-China military and trade relations, and anti-terrorism.

I also taught national security policy and political science/international affairs at the university level, have founded and run a small business, served as a volunteer firefighter/EMT and am the Founder of the Constitution Brigade in CT...

Fun Facts:
  • Ms. Novak received a Superior Honor Award, the highest given by the State Department.
  • A lifelong Republican, Novak served as a Delegate to the 1976 Republican National Convention.
  • If Daria Novak wins the GOP primary on August 10, she will face incumbent Democrat Joe Courtney in the fall.
  • Daria Novak on the issues

Charles Lollar (MD-5)

Charles Lollar is a concerned citizen, taxpayer, hard working business executive, Major in the United States Marine Corps Reserves and most importantly a father of four and a devoted husband.

Charles was born in Toppenish, Washington, a sleepy western town boasting a diverse mix of cultures. His father, a tax consultant, instilled in him an old fashioned work ethic while his mother, a librarian, taught him how to be compassionate and caring for his fellow man...

Fun Facts:
  • Lollar has been endorsed by Sean Hannity in his bid to oust Steny Hoyer, one of Nancy Pelosi's handmaidens in the House.
  • If Charles Lollar wins the GOP primary on September 14, he will take on Steny Hoyer in November.
  • Charles Lollar on the issues

Sharon Angle (NV-Sen)

In addition to her proud service in the Nevada legislature, Sharron has been an active member of the Republican Party for many years. She currently serves on the Nevada State Central Committee and has been the chairman of the Washoe County GOP precinct organization effort.

Sharron Angle is also a proud member of the Gun Owners of America, National Right to Life Committee, Concerned Women for America, Nevada Republican Assembly, Washoe County Republican Party, and Fellowship Community Church...

Fun Facts:

Vicky Hartzler (MO-4)

Vicky Hartzler is a leader who believes people of character have a wonderful opportunity to make a difference for others through public service. She learned the importance of family, the reality of the American dream, and the value of a strong work ethic growing up on a farm in rural Cass County working alongside her parents, Ted and Virginia Zellmer, and sister, Peggy.

Vicky learned the principles of hard work, commitment, perseverance, and courage in the face of challenges as they worked the land to produce crops of corn, soybeans, milo, wheat, and hay and raised hogs and cattle...

Fun Facts:
  • Vicky and her husband run a diversified farming operation and are owners of Hartzler Equipment Company.
  • Hartzler is the author of the book “Running God’s Way: Step by Step to a Successful Political Campaign”.
  • If Hartzler wins the GOP primary on August 3, she will face incumbent Ike Skelton in November.
  • Vicky Hartzler on the issues

Ann Marie Buerkle (NY-25)

A native of Auburn, New York, Ann Marie is a nurse and accomplished attorney working in healthcare, mother of six and grandmother of eleven.

After graduating as an R.N. from St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing, Ann Marie worked at Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital in New York City and St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse. While juggling a growing family, Ann Marie was a substitute school nurse for many years before obtaining her law degree from Syracuse University School of Law...

Fun Facts:

Marco Rubio (FL-Sen)

Highly regarded for his principled, energetic and idea-driven leadership, Marco Rubio is a candidate for U.S. Senate in 2010.

In 1971, Marco was born in Miami to Cuban-born parents who came to America following Fidel Castro’s takeover. When he was eight years old, Rubio and his family moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where his father worked as a bartender at the Sams Town Hotel and his mother as a housekeeper at the Imperial Palace Hotel...

Fun Facts:
  • The current score: Rubio 101,202, Crist 26,702 and Meek 17,328.
  • Rasmussen: Rubio 36%, Crist 34%, Meek 15%
  • A host of candidates are fighting for this open U.S. Senate seat. Rubio is expected to face RINO turncoat Charlie Crist and a Democrat in the fall.
  • Marco Rubio on the issues

Chris Gibson (NY-20)

Chris Gibson grew up in Columbia County in the town of Kinderhook. He was the Point Guard and Co-Captain of Ichabod Crane’s High School Basketball Team and went on to graduate magna cum laude with a BA in History from Siena College while earning a ROTC Commission there.

Over the course of his 24 year Army career Chris rose to the rank of Colonel and deployed 7 times; including 4 combat tours to Iraq, and separate deployments to Kosovo, the Southwestern US for a counter-drug operation, and most recently (just prior to his retirement) to Haiti where he commanded the 82nd Airborne Division’s 2nd Brigade Combat Team during the opening month of that humanitarian relief operation...

    Hi:
You beat me to the punch!
Here's FreedomWorks link if you want to add it to the list.

    ResistNet, Smart Girl Politics and
    Team Sarah are up too.
Thanks for all the info on the candidates, but you need to change Chris Gibson's first name from "Scott" to "Chris" in the last line where you link to the issues. You must have had "Scott" on your brain when you typed it because Chris's opponent is named "Scott".

Yay! I already donated to Gibson and Buerkle before I had even caught wind of TBF.

Regarding the nominees, I'm thinking we should put an emphasis on a few things:

    1) How did the incumbent vote on issues like 0bamacare or cap & trade?

    2) How competitive is the district? As much as I loathe Pelosi and would like to see her out of work, sending money to a Republican candidate in San Fran Freakshow would make about as much sense as throwing one of those portraits of Alexander Hamilton down bottomless pit.

    Poll up.

can you put Star Parker's name for next week?

    thanks,

Gibson / NY20 - Among active voters Republicans outnumber Democtrats 41% to 27% with 32% Other (Unaffiliated, Conservative, etc) so this is a very winnable District for the GOP.

Also, Gibson is the only person seeking the Republican nomination, so every penny donated to Chris will go directly to defeating a Democrat, not consumed in a costly primary battle.

    Brian Murphy for Governor said...

    Right Klik,

Right Klik supporters, I am nominating Brian Murphy for Governor of Maryland for "Ten Buck Fridays". He is running in the Maryland Primary against Bob Ehrlich for Governor. The Republican Party has decided that they are going to endorse Ehrlich even though their own bylaws (Rule 11) says that they are not allowed to endorse a candidate before the primary. The Maryland Republican Party has signed a waiver allowing the Repbulican Party to give Ehrlich money before the primary even though there is another Republican candidate running. This is unethical and does not allow the Maryland Republican people to decide who they want as their nominee. The Republican Party has declared who they want as governor even thought their organization is not entitled to that. The Maryland People decide, not the Republican Party. This is very hypocritical to everything they stand for, honest government. Brian Murphy needs your help.
Brian Murphy is a true conservative. He is prolife (the only one in the race), he supports the second ammendment, he is committed to enforcing illegal immigration and supports Arizona's SB 1070 illegal immigration law, is a small business owner (has created Maryland jobs and pays a payroll), is a business man not a career politician, will balance the budget without raising taxes, will cut income tax in three years because it only accounts for 2% of the budget and it is hurting many small businesses and families, has been an executive before at Costellation Energy with a $4 billion yearly revenue and a $25 million daily risk, and his main focus is a fiscally responsible government that lives within its means.
Brian Murphy is the only true conservative Republican candidate running in the state of Maryland. Bob Ehrlich is prochoice and he passed the largest tax increase in Maryland history, and he has grown the government by 40% while he was Governor of Maryland. He is not a true conservative and he does not believe in many parts of the Republican platform. Brian Murphy represents Republican ideals on every issue. We need your help in electing Brian Murphy for governor of Maryland.
Please nominate Brian Murphy for the "Ten Buck Fridays."

    Sincerely,

Col. Chris Gibson (NY20) is challenging Democrat (and limousine liberal) Scott Murphy who slid into office following a hotly contested recount after a special election..this is the seat left vacant by Wall Street darling Kirsten Gillibrand, who was appointed to fill Hillary Clinton's old senate seat. Since her appointment, Gillibrand has completely folded on her previous pro-gun rights position and is walking in lockstep with Washington Dems...knows where her bread is buttered, as does Murphy. The 20th CD is ready for real leadership....support CHRIS GIBSON and encourage everyone you know to get involved in his campaign. He's a fine candidate.

i reeeeally like Charles Lollar from reading about him and listening to him speak at TeaParty rallies (on youtube) he strikes me as a man of real integrity. an honorable vet and family man. like many, i was excited about the first black president, but Barack Hussein Obama is NOT the man we needed to take that title. On the contrary, it's men like Lollar and Allen West who make me proud to be an American!
