Congratulations Cruz!

Another Tea Party victory, another GOP establishment scalp collected:
Cruz, a Cuban-American lawyer who formerly served as state solicitor general, received 54 percent to 46 percent for Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst with 20 percent of precincts reporting.
Cruz richly deserved to win:
Mr. Cruz’s personal credentials are sterling: An authentic conservative intellectual, he was a star at Princeton and Harvard law, winning the admiration of thinkers as politically opposed as Robert P. George and Alan Dershowitz. He clerked on the Supreme Court under William Rehnquist and is an unwavering defender of our constitutional order.
Time to pat yourselves on the back, Tea Partiers:
Conservatives saw this coming more than a year ago. The New York Times was profiling Cruz last fall, because Tea Party groups kept telling reporters to check out Cruz. They are and were sophisticated. Picking Cruz over Dewhurst makes perfect political sense...
Thank you, Texas.

Update, final results: A 14 point megavictory.

Preaching the Gospel of Redistribution

Behold Michelle Obama’s $6800 jacket! Please note that $6,800 is enough money to feed 40,000 hungry children.

Here's a comment from the Obama fan club:
she has the money to buy nice things, why shouldn’t she? she’s married to the president of the united states of america. what does her having an expensive jacket have to do with starving children? is her buying that jacket taking food out of peoples mouthes? no, it isn’t. what, is she supposed to deny the things she wants because somewhere people are starving? i all of the stars she supposed to single handedly feed all of the starving children?

no, she isn’t, it’s not her responsibility.
This is a remarkably laissez-faire statement to have come from an Obama apologist.

Newsflash: The Obamas and their allies aren't libertarians.

Awkwardly alluding to Genesis, the first book of the Bible, Barack Obama has said that we should be “Living by the principle that we are our brother's keeper, caring for the poor and those in need.”

But Obama’s biological brother lives in Kenya on $12 a year

Obama also said, “I think when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody.”

Just to be clear, Obama is not talking about voluntary charitable redistribution.

But as they spread their insidious Gospel of Coercive Redistribution, the Obamas pile the riches of our capitalist society upon themselves.

The SwiftQuoting of Barack Obama

Poor Barack. He's been viciously SwiftQuoted. He spoke -- then his opponents quoted him. How viciously unfair!

Here's a roundup of some great reactions from the dextrosphere:

"These words were not delivered in tones of respect and 'We're all in this together,' camaraderie. They were meant to put people in their place."

"It’s a casual dismissal of what it takes to succeed mixed with a sense of entitlement to what entrepreneurs create, along with a tsk-tsk implication that they give nothing back despite the fact that they pay taxes."

Businesses pay taxes to build that infrastructure and run those schools, so they're not getting anything gratis.

William Jacobson:

"The entirety of Obama’s speech, and not just the sentence in question, articulated a collectivist approach advocated by Elizabeth Warren and others (more on that in a subsequent post) which focuses on individual indebtedness to government, which puts government at the center of who we are as a people.

"This is a debate we need to have."

William Teach:

"Whiny President Whines About People Talking About Him As He Talks About Other People"

Be sure to read the entirety of these posts!

Obama's Blatant Racism

More on BooGate:
You don’t go into the NAACP and use the word“Obamacare” and think that you’re not going to hear some boos. It’s a heavily loaded word, and Romney and his people know very well that liberals and the president’s supporters consider it an insult. He and his team had to know those boos were coming, and Romney acknowledged as much a few hours later in an interview with . . . guess which channel (hint: it’s the one whose web site often has to close articles about race to commenters because of the blatant racism).
emphasis added

Yes. The term "Obamacare" is a favorite among malignant bigots. You can find it on all sorts of racist websites:

Feel-Good Headline of the Day: Conservative Extremists are Extremely Happy

Conservatives are happier than liberals, and conservative extremists are the happiest people of all:
...conservative Republicans were 68 percent more likely than liberal Democrats to say they were “very happy” about their lives. This pattern has persisted for decades.

....the happiest Americans are those who say they are either “extremely conservative” (48 percent very happy) or “extremely liberal” (35 percent). Everyone else is less happy, with the nadir at dead-center “moderate” (26 percent).

...Whatever the explanation, the implications are striking. The Occupy Wall Street protesters may have looked like a miserable mess. In truth, they were probably happier than the moderates making fun of them from the offices above. And none, it seems, are happier than the Tea Partiers, many of whom cling to guns and faith with great tenacity. Which some moderately liberal readers of this newspaper might find quite depressing.
Emphasis added.

Read the rest. Liberals aren't going to be happy with the explanation.

A Hail Mary for America

Is it a safe bet?

Obama says he's "betting" on America. That doesn't project a lot of confidence, does it?

But Obama has good reasons to doubt. We're a bitter, clingy, cowardly and lazy bunch.

Maybe Obama should change his slogan to "A Hail Mary for America."
