Team Obama vs. Right-Wing Domestic Terrorists

On My.BarackObama.com (Obama's "Organizing For America" headquarters), Team BO is declaring war on terrorism. On 9/11, O-heads all over the country will take a stand against the forces of evil by flooding the switchboards on Capitol Hill:

All 50 States are coordinating in this – as we fight back against our own Right-Wing Domestic Terrorists who are subverting the American Democratic Process, whipped to a frenzy by their Fox Propaganda Network ceaselessly re-seizing power for their treacherous leaders.

...because the conservative opposition is a man-made disaster waiting to happen!

More from MyBarackObama:

"ON ONE DAY you 'burn-up' the Senate Switchboards - THE NEXT DAY you've got the Senator's attention." We will achieve that effect, on Friday, Patriot Day 9/11.

Whoa...burning up the switchboards? That sounds very disruptive and very un-American! Don't forget what Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) recently said:

...[F]looding the switchboards on Capitol Hill...doesn’t prove much other than the switchboards have limited capacity, so we want to have a balanced approach that allows members of Congress to hear both sides of the story, rather than be sucker-punched, or sidetracked by these tactics.

I suppose a frenzy is un-American only if it whipped up by the Right Wing, and "sucker-punch" tactics are tantamount to terrorism only when Demokrats are being embarrassed.

Officer Acting Very Stupidly: It Ain't America No More!

The image above...is it threatening? Treasonous? Pornographic? Incendiary? Inappropriate? Stupid? Could there be any legitimate reason to take it away or to force someone to put it down?

Officer Wesley Cheeks, Jr., apparently didn't like the picture. Here's the unsettling, jaw dropping video:

The omnipotent Wesley Cheeks gives us the quote of the week: "I can charge you with whatever I want to charge you with." Amazing audacity. This is an egregious assault on the First Amendment. I hope a lawsuit ensues.

Noel Sheppard opines: "If we had an honest media in America, the following video would have been broadcast repeatedly over the past few days to demonstrate how free speech in our nation is indeed under attack."

Welcome to the U.S.S.A. Unfortunately, the Democrat-run Obamocracy is turning out to be as bad as we feared it might be, but with the exception of Obamacare outrage, the backlash has been underwhelming.

Surprisingly, some reliable conservative pundits have made the argument that this poster is "stupid", and that the blowback from the anti-Obama crowd has been outrageous. This line of thinking completely misses the most important point in this story. Law enforcment officials have no business infringing upon First Amendment rights...no matter whether the communication in question is stupid satire or erudite commentary.

P.S. When will Obama speak out against this officer "acting stupidly"?

Michelle Malkin: "...this guy would make a perfect candidate for Obama’s civilian defense corps."

Flashback: A President should be willing to die to defend our Constitution. Obama is dying to destroy it.

Flashback: Negative Liberties & America's Oppresive Individualism

Voter intimidation, politically motivated witch hunts, unchecked public corruption...who cares?

Obamacare Will Take a Bite out of Medicare

Does Linda Douglass know that Rep. Betsy Markey (D-CO) is spreading malicious myths about ObamaCare? Has anyone flagged Markey to the White House yet? The House Democratic caucus may need to be flagged after Markey’s local paper caught her admitting that Medicare benefits would have to be cut — for the greater good:

Some people, including Medicare recipients, will have to give up some current benefits to truly reform the nation’s health-care system, Rep. Betsy Markey told a gathering of constituents in Fort Collins on Wednesday.

Markey has repeatedly said during the August congressional recess that Medicare spending needs to be reined in to help pay for reforming the broader health-care system.

“There’s going to be some people who are going to have to give up some things, honestly, for all of this to work,” Markey said at a Congress on Your Corner event at CSU. “But we have to do this because we’re Americans.”

B-b-b-but President Obama said that was just a myth!

Obama: "Well, first of all, another myth that we've been hearing about is this notion that somehow we're going to be cutting your Medicare benefits. We are not. AARP would not be endorsing a bill if it was undermining Medicare, okay? So I just want seniors to be clear about this, because if you look at the polling, it turns out seniors are the ones who are most worried about health care reform. And that's understandable, because they use a lot of care, they've got Medicare, and it's already hard for a lot of people even on Medicare because of the supplements and all the other costs out of pocket that they're still paying.

"So I just want to assure we're not talking about cutting Medicare benefits. We are talking about making Medicare more efficient, eliminating the insurance subsidies, working with hospitals so that they are changing some of the reimbursement practices."

And remember this?

Obama: “I know there's been a lot of misinformation in this debate, and there are some folks out there who are, frankly, bearing false witness, but I want everyone to know what health insurance reform is all about”

So set the record straight, Obama. How big a bite will ObamaCare take out of Medicare? What benefits will Medicare recipients be giving up?

Dude, Where's My Mercedes?

This year, your Demokrat-run Federal Government will spend $30,958 per household. To achieve this unprecedented feat, Washington will tax $17,576 per household, and borrow $13,392 per household.

"The federal government will increase spending 22% this year to a peacetime-record 26% of the gross domestic product (GDP). This spending is not just temporary: President Obama would permanently keep annual spending between $5,000 and $8,000 per household higher than it had been under President George W. Bush."

Excuse me, $31,000 per household? I don't think I'm getting my money's worth.

Here are some things you might choose do with $31,000:
What would do with $31,000?

Headed in the direction of absolutely nothing...

It's probably too early to start throwing confetti, but the prospects for Obama's hostile takeover of the health care industry are beginning to look very slim.

Russ Feingold tells a Wisconsin crowd of the prospects for health care legislation:

"Nobody is going to bring a bill before Christmas, and maybe not even then, if this ever happens," Feingold said. "The divisions are so deep. I never seen anything like that."

Feingold reiterated his appraisal a bit later.

"We're headed in the direction of doing absolutely nothing, and I think that's unfortunate..."

Waterloo.

If Obama Fails, It's Not His Fault

It looks like the Demokrat MSM are preparing for what might be the inevitable failure of their Messiah's health care plan. Some amazing damage control memes are beginning to emerge:

1. Failure is good!

From Slate:

It's easy to forget that, even if Obama's health care effort is bogging down, the effort itself still serves his presidency as a crucial time-waster, tying up Congress and giving him a reason to postpone (or the public a reason to ignore) those other divisive, presidency-killers" [e.g. cap and trade, immigration legalization, card check and the Afghan War].

"If he keeps failing to pass health care until spring, that might not be such a bad outcome. In fact, even quick passage was maybe never in his interest. There are things more unpopular than struggling...

Failure is success? Yeah they're that desperate!

2. Obama's failure is really a failure of the national press corps, the left wing and the Demokratic party.

Throughout the 2008 campaign, Barack Obama’s most loyal constituencies were the national press corps and the left wing of the Democratic Party.

But now both groups are turning on him. As the health care debate enters its decisive weeks, the left doubts President Obama’s commitment, and the press doubts his competence.

...[we] assume that some kind of legislation will eventually pass.

If it doesn’t, President Obama will have been defeated. But it’s the party, not the president, that will have failed.

Rhetorical question: If Obama's not running the Demokrat party, who is???

3. Obama is bogged down because he has been working so hard to accommodate Republicans.

From Bloomberg:

Schumer, speaking on NBC’s “Meet the Press” yesterday, said Obama and Democratic leaders are “bending over backwards” to win Republican support. “It’s looking less and less likely that certainly the Republican leadership in the House and Senate will want to go for a bipartisan bill,” he said.

As RNC chairman Michael Steele has pointed out, this claim is patently absurd. Demokrats have not been striving for nor have they been expecting Republican cooperation...

From Fox News:

Steele told reporters that he thinks if Democratic senators think they have the votes, they should try a tactic that would allow them to get around a bill-killing filibuster without the 60 votes usually needed. Steele said he didn't think Democrats would do it because of potential voter backlash.

"Get it to the floor. Up or down, baby," Steele said at a news conference at the state GOP headquarters. "Put it on the table. And if you don't think you've got enough votes to get to 60, you've got the nuclear option. You've got 51."

The legislative tactic Steele suggested, called "reconciliation," would allow senators to get around a bill-killing filibuster without mustering the 60 votes usually needed. Democrats control 60 of the Senate's 100 seats, but some moderate Senate Democrats have expressed reservations about Obama's plan.

4. Obama is failing because he's too nice.

From The LA Times, words of encouragement from Rep. Maxine Waters:

"Yes, we know that you are a nice man... But there comes a time when you need to drop that and move forward," Waters said. "We're saying to you, Mr. President, 'Be tough. Use everything that you've got. Do what you have to do. And we have your back.' "

Obama's "nice guy" veneer is barely skin deep. Barack "I WON" Obama, the self-described ruthless pragmatist, has already pulled out all the stops for his agenda. And that is precisely the problem.

Twenty-seven days after taking office, Obama abandoned his short-lived commitment to transparency and bipartisanship and signed his ill-conceived stimulus bill into law. In his frenzy to push the legislation through Congress, Barack had managed to earn the hesitant support of a grand total of two extant Republicans (RINOs, both from the same state).

Since that very turbulent moment, Americans have developed persistent doubts about Obama's judgement and leadership strategy. And in the process they have rediscovered their self-confidence. The Wall Street Journal explains:

American democracy has never been democracy by plebiscite, a process by which a leader is anointed, then the populace steps out of the way, and the anointed one puts his political program in place. In the American tradition, the "mandate of heaven" is gained and lost every day and people talk back to their leaders. They are not held in thrall by them. The leaders are not infallible or a breed apart. That way is the Third World way, the way it plays out in Arab and Latin American politics.

Those protesters in those town-hall meetings have served notice that Mr. Obama's charismatic moment has passed. Once again, the belief in that American exception that set this nation apart from other lands is re-emerging.

Let's be clear. Obama's problem in implementing ObamaCare is not the press corps, the left wing Demokrats, the GOP, the protesters or the "naysayers". His critics aren't his problem. His proposal is.

Obama Sinks To New Low

(The Presidential Approval Index is calculated by subtracting the number who Strongly Disapprove from the number who Strongly Approve)

Just in time for Dear Leader's much needed vacation:

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Sunday shows that 27% of the nation's voters strongly approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Forty-one percent (41%) strongly disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -14. These figures mark the lowest Approval Index rating yet recorded for this President. The previous low of -12 was reached on July 30.

Prior to today, the number who Strongly Approved of the President’s performance had never fallen below 29%. Some of the decline has come from within the President’s own party. Just 49% of Democrats offer such a positive assessment of the President at this time.

Liberals admit conservatives have upper hand on Twitter

Conservatives are winning an important battle.

"...[W]e are being out-organized on Twitter," said Gina Cooper, a blogger who helped organize Netroots Nation, an annual gathering of online liberal activists that met last week in Pittsburgh. "There is some catching up to do on the progressive side."

Tracy Viselli, who attended Netroots Nation, agreed with Cooper and admitted that liberal bloggers are ceding this valuable territory to conservatives.

"Conservatives are very tightly knit and getting their message out very well."

Are conservatives winning the message war because of the power of their "opposition energy", or have they simply congregated at the right place at the right time? If you're not already on Twitter, come and find out for yourself.

See you on Twitter.

Health Care Ex Nihilo

If ObamaCare becomes a reality, it will fail miserably. Here's why:

When (and if) the Democrats force their health care agenda down our throats, tens of millions of people will have access to a glorious new entitlement — and doctors' offices and emergency rooms will be flooded. A doctor from Massachusetts describes what happened after health care reform was implemented there: "'We were hammered with patients who didn't have insurance before but now had it,' she says. Many of them showed up after years of medical neglect with either 'pesky little problems' or 'big tumors, high blood pressure, or very scary lab findings.'"

Now that the Democrats run the country, cost is a secondary concern. The Federal Government will borrow or print whatever money we need to pay for the new goodies. Fineproblem solved. But what about the human resources? You can't borrow surgeons or print respiratory therapists. Have the democrats thought about that?

More on Massachusetts' prequel to ObamaCare:

When Massachusetts created an estimated 432,000 newly insured residents in less than two years, Massachusetts' glut of doctors quickly became a critical shortage. More than 41% of primary care practices in the state did not accept new patients in 2008, up from 28% in 2006, according to a survey by the Massachusetts Medical Society (MMS).

Meanwhile, wait times for new-patient appointments rose from four weeks in 2006 to nearly eight weeks in 2008 for general internal medicine, according to the MMS. Nationally, average wait time is slightly under three weeks, according to the physician placement firm Merritt Hawkins & Associates.

"Universal coverage does not mean universal access," says Bruce Auerbach, MD, an emergency physician in Attleboro, immediate past president of the MMS, and an advocate of universal care. "Once you get 100% of the people covered, you want to be sure you actually have people to take care of them."

Painkillers don't prescribe themselves, pacemakers don't implant themselves, hips don't replace themselves, dying patients don't code themselves, and as BHO has infamously pointed out, gangrenous diabetic feet don't amputate themselves. Moreover, you can throw a stack of $100 bills at a woman who needs a c-section, but unless you can find an obstetrician to do the required job, you still have a very big problem on your hands.

So here's my question for Dr. Obama: We know that the financial resources for health care reform would come from new taxes, but with tens of millions of newly insured Americans, where will the requisite HUMAN resources (e.g., nurses, doctors, administrators) come from?
