Illinois RINO Alert

Remember when Nancy Pelosi passed her radical Cap & Trade Bill in the House? With its oppressive new taxes, new mandates, and new regulations, Cap & Trade turned out to be far too radical, and the Senate wouldn't touch it with a thirty-nine-and-a-half foot pole. But with the help of eight traitorous Republicans, Pelosi was able to push the infamous climate change legislation further than ever before.

One of those eight Republicans, Mark Kirk, wants to be the GOP nominee for the U.S. Senate seat in Illinois. As recently as 2004, that seat was occupied by a conservative, but the Republican establishment has thrown its support behind Mark "Cap&Trade" Kirk.

As Mark Levin points out, Kirk's support for cap and trade was inexcusable:

Any Republican who votes for Cap and Trade is a complete sellout because Cap and Trade is big government industrial policy that reaches into everybody's home...

Kirk knew that, he was the one of the ones who was getting all these calls. And he defied the people.

Unfortunately, Kirk's record of recklessness is not limited to his support for Cap and Trade. Let's review who Kirk really is, via Free Republic:

Cap&Trade Kirk must be stopped...but we only have eight days! The GOP senate primary is on February 2nd. Fortunately there's a solid conservative for whom we can rally: Patrick Hughes.

Hughes is the most serious conservative candidate running against Mark Kirk:

If conservatives come out early next week in an organized fashion, throw a pile of targeted money into Illinois, and rapidly drive up Pat Hughes’ name identification, the polling in Illinois suggests Hughes will win.

He is not polling well against Kirk right now, but then he has significantly lower name identification. All the polling suggests Kirk’s support is very weak and once people find out about Hughes, they break overwhelmingly for Hughes.

[emphasis added]

Learn more about Patrick Hughes. Listen to these great interviews with Laura Ingraham and Mark Levin:

Exit question: When is Hannity going to have this guy on his shows?

The truly sad part about this is that Mary Bono Mack is married to my congressman Connie Mack... I don't care if she is Sonny's widow, I don't think even Sonny would have voted for this garbage.. Connie, you need to talk to your wife...

I too am an Illinois guy, but unfortunately that slimy RINO Kirk's got about a 30 point lead in the polls at this point.

The machine GOP'ers, to include Gingrich, Steele and that bunch are supporting Kirk, just to keep the seat in GOP hands. They're at it again, just like their support of that scuzzy RINO Scuzzafuvva in NY a month or two ago.

Kirk's record hardly point to this seat as a GOP stronghold, this RINO takes every opportunity to vote with the liberals.

Pat Hughes has my vote, but it's an uphill battle. Illinois is really a lost cause electorally speaking, way worse than Massachusetts, trust me. There's virtually no Republican Party presence in this state currently. None.

TBAA: It's amazing to me when spouses in politics have huge differences of opinion.

Fredd: I see what you're saying. BTW, the gap was reported to be about 20 pts. yesterday. In the general election I'd expect to see an uphill battle. But in this GOP primary, I think Hughes can get more traction. He's been on Levin, Ingraham and today he was on Dennis Miller's show. If he can get on Hannity, I think he can close the gap. At this point it's a name recognition issue. Mark Kirk has soft support. Most Illinois GOPers haven't had the opportunity to see that Hughes is the better candidate.

Thanks for the heads up. I have a few bucks I'm willing to send Hughes' way.

The Illinois Republican Party is largely to blame for the success of Obama. They totally botched the Senate race that allowed Obama to rise to prominence. Don't let them do it again. Elect Hughes!

RightKlik,

I'm sticking with Kirk for U.S. Senate. He's got what it takes to win in November. The out of state pundits seeking to trash or penalize Kirk for cap n' trade could cost Illinois an opportunity to win.

May I suggest your readers go to www.teamamerica10th.blogspot.com to learn about the real Patrick Hughes - the one Levin and Ingrahm don't want you to know about.

Anon: Thank you!

RR: I don't think Kirk winning the general election would help the GOP in the long run. It would only help to tarnish the GOP brand further.

We should support the GOP when GOP candidates are helping to lead their constituents in the Right direction. When flawed GOP candidates support bad ideas and bad policies, I cannot go along.

I am convinced that in a state in which conservatives outnumber liberals by 12 percentage points, Mark Kirk is a candidate too liberal for his constituents. If the GOP continues push candidates like Dede Scozzafava and Mark Kirk, disastrous 3rd party challenges will tear the conservative base apart.
