Obama Wins 2nd Biennial Anti-Bush Award

This story is an utter waste of time. Obama is busy losing the war in Afghanistan and winning the war against freedom and liberty in the U.S., but instead of discussing real issues, we're talking about another botched decision of a bunch of leftist Norwegians.

The Nobel Peace Prize was a joke long before today's award. Let's review some of the recent laureates:

2009 - Barack Obama
2007 - Al Gore
2005 - International Atomic Energy Agency
2002 - Jimmy Carter
2001 - Kofi Annan
1994 - Yasser Arafat

Notably absent from the list: John Kerry and Bill Clinton. Maybe in 2011?

The Brits react: "Rarely has an award had such an obvious political and partisan intent. It was clearly seen by the Norwegian Nobel committee as a way of expressing European gratitude for an end to the Bush Administration..."

This is not the first time the Norwegian Nobel committee has been accused of dispensing a prize on the basis of anti-Bush sentiment. The first Biennial Anti-Bush Nobel Prize went to Al Gore. Again, the Brits nail it: "The decision has inevitably been interpreted as a rebuke to President Bush, who beat Mr Gore by the narrowest of margins to win the White House in 2000..."

The Nobel Peace Prize traditionally goes to corrupt and inept leftists, so in that sense, this year's decision was right on the money. What's surprising about the decision to award Obama with the Nobel Peace Prize is that he is a corrupt and inept leftist with so few accomplishments (save for his courageous stance in support of leftist tyranny in Honduras).

The Norwegian Nobel Committee's deadline for nominations was February 1, just 11 days after Obama's inauguration.

This award does not bode well for our troops. How will he reconcile a peace prize with a troop surge? I fear our men and women overseas may get screwed. When will their sacrifice be more important then "social justice"?

This just degrades & cheapens the meaning of the Nobel Prize. For past and future recipients.

There were much more worthy people in the field with a lot more accomplishments.

It is now just a political tool.

NG: I did some fact checking...you're absolutely correct.

DaBlade: Sadly true.

PoL: The more I hear about this idea that the Nobel people gave the award to try to manipulate Obama, the more it makes sense.

We say their prize should be renamed the Nobel Pacifist Prize.

Sadly peace is brought about after incorrect, and yes evil, ideologies and regimes are defeated typically through bloodshed.

Our vote for an international peace prize would have been for Neda Agha-Soltan and the Iranian protestors (not even nominated), some of whom gave their lives, some of whom are being sentenced to death as we write. These heroes were trying to peacefully save their country from the brink of a new war in the Middle East.

"...the Nobel Pacifist Prize."

Good idea.

On this idea that there were others who deserved the prize much more, here's a blurb I really liked:

Potential laureates included Hu Jia, locked up since December 2007 after exposing government abuses and the plight of China’s AIDS sufferers, and Wei Jingsheng, a onetime electrician who spent 18 years in prison after brazenly challenging former leader Deng Xiaoping to bring democracy.
Huang Ciping, an engineer turned activist who is executive director of Wei’s Washington-based foundation, said that China “has come to such a turning point that the prize might have helped.”
“The Nobel Peace Prize committee has the full right to decide to give coal to those who suffer and struggle or to present flowers to the powerful,” she said.
But she said of the decision: “It is both a pity for the Chinese people and a danger to world peace.”

The rightful name of the Nobel Peace Prize (NPP) is Nobel Appeasement Prize (NAP), e.g. it lacks meaning after the anti-American, and anti-freedom 2009 NPP to Mr. Barack Obama, as well as previous anti-American, and anti-freedom NPPs, when Pres. Roland Reagan, and Pope John Paul II, didn´t win the NPP for defeating Soviet Union in the Cold War.

I have previously, as well as, nacilbupera, October 10, 2009 8:47 PM, that the Iranian Freedom Potesters, and honoring the death of Ms. Neda Agha-Soltan that was killed June 20, 2009 in the streets of Tehran, during the 2009 Iranian election protests, and I also had that the US Armed Forces should have won the 2009 NPP.
