My First Political Contribution

As the first anniversary of this blog approaches (October 26), I've been thinking quite a bit about my plans for the future.

This time last year, as Obama's inevitable victory was unfolding, I realized that I could no longer sit on the sidelines, just watching the news and worrying about the future. So I joined the blogosphere.

Blogging helped me to make some important connections, and through those connections I have become more involved in the political process. This year, for the first time in my life, I have been emailing Congress, writing the President, attending political protest rallies and tweeting anyone who will listen.

All these things have been helpful, but they're still not enough. Congress and Obama aren't listening. We have to keep shouting, but we have to do more. We have to make a financial investment.

If you're like me (and 98% of everyone else in the country), you live in a district that is safe for the incumbent. In my case, that's fine. But wherever we live, we have an obligation to assist our conservative friends who are struggling to tip the scales in hotly contested races in other areas of the country. They need our help and welcome our involvement. So please join me in support of candidates who stand firmly on conservative principles, wherever they happen to live.

Here's a great place to start: a conservative candidate in New York needs our help. Doug Hoffman is fighting a liberal Republican and a moderate Democrat to represent New York's 23rd Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives (an open seat). I live over 1,100 miles from his neck of the woods, but today, I sent Hoffman a small contribution.

This race is critically important because Hoffman's conservative New York district has been abandoned by out-of-touch GOP elites who have been dumping truckloads of money on the liberal Republican candidate.

Tea party activists have risen to the occasion and are fighting for Doug Hoffman, a candidate whose values are in sync with the district.

Hoffman jumped into the race to fill the conservative void after he was passed over by the local Republican power brokers. He joined the Conservative Party, which is well established and influential in New York. Hoffman is a no-frills candidate, but he's strong and he's surging in the polls.

As the only congressional election this fall, this race will have special significance as a political barometer. Hoffman's win would send an important message to the GOP establishment: "Conservatives are in control now, 2010 belongs to us."

It's a shame that these lefties demean American citizens that are concerned that Progressives are trying to destroy the American way of life. I'm sure that 100% of Progressives belong to the 47% of Americans that don't pay taxes! You're trying to change the American way of life from working hard & getting ahead to sitting on my ass & getting a hand out from the 53% of Americans that do pay taxes!
Progressives are "Freeloaders!"
Go crawl back under your bridge and scare small children and Republicans, along w/the Whiny "Progressives" who infest the reply sections of these board and who clearly agree w/you Libs 100%...

I am trying to figure out how the RNC can watch months of passionate conservative involvement and then throw its weight behind a liberal republican.

C&L: I think we can make that happen.

C_C: Three groups of libs: Freeloaders, PowerHogs/ControlFreaks and Naifs

RV: It's absolutely amazing. They're truly out of touch. The spend too much time with backslapping lobbyists and ivory tower media types.

Psst...

He _really_ needs to get his teeth whitened...

I know...shallow...but image is important, and his teeth are really yellow.

Maybe it's the ads I keep getting when I long onto Fox news or even Yahoo...

Could someone whisper into his ear? Maybe send him one of those do-it-yourself kits?

He has such a nice smile...

suek: I noticed that too...somebody needs to help him with that. Send him an email.
