The War Against RightNetwork: Progressivism vs. Free Speech

RIGHTNETWORK will launch on television, web and mobile in the summer of 2010. Their mission is clear: to entertain, engage, and enlighten Americans who are looking for content that reflects and reinforces their perspective and worldview. RIGHTNETWORK will consistently impact the political and cultural discussions of Americans.

No Sheeples Here takes note:

RightNetwork is an exciting new site that will launch this summer. Actor Kelsey Grammer is a partner in the venture. Grammer says, “RightNetwork is filling a big gap with entertainment programs that combine compelling content with a perspective we don’t generally get from the media. We’re bringing outstanding talent and production values to our television, Internet and mobile platforms. I’m proud to be part of this team!”.

I first heard about RightNetwork from the nutroots on Twitter who are already fighting to shut down the new network. Why? Simply because they disagree. The first Amendment means nothing to these cowards:

"It's War! Help Beat Comcast/NBC Merger & Their New Right Wing Cable Network":

In the most despicable and arrogant gesture since the Citizen's United decision itself, Comcast is now partnering with Tea Baggers to create a purely right wing, cable and Internet outlet called the "Right Network"

How appalling, given that conservatives already outnumber liberals by 3-1 in the general media, and 20-1 on on talk radio. And of course, they already have the 24×7 Fox news channel. A right network almost seems redundant...

Yes, in the imaginary world in which conservatives outnumber liberals 3-1 in the general media, investors probably would see no reason to create a right-wing network. Alas, freedom-loving conservatives are incredibly underrepresented in the media on this planet.

More gnashing of teeth from the LWNJ tin foil hat club:

"Comcast partners with teabaggers to bring new right-wing broadcast network online."

When they launch, they'll have lots of content, since they've been embedded with the Tea Party Express for its tour across the country. The YouTube channel has video from key tea party locations.

They don't even try to hide it anymore. It's just outright, blatant partisanship and propaganda, brought to you by Comcast and the US Chamber of Commerce.

Note to libs: When you have an appealing, wholesome, mainstream product, there's no reason to hide.

Here are some very interesting introductory clips from RightNetwork:

HEY, WAIT A MINUTE! I thought they thought FOX was "a purely right wing cable network!" HAA!! this is quite a surprise :-)

am going to hear Liz Cheney and Deborah Burlingame tonight and Grammer might be there..stay tuned! I got to meet and chat with him last time I was with the host group... He's an amazingly humble, kind and interested celeb.

This is great and long overdue! Can't wait for the launch, will watch it constantly (well, along with Fox).

And I'm so deeply shocked that the tolerant, open-minded, discourse-centered left would object to the free expression of speech in this country . . . er, yeah, right. That's what they do: if they don't like or agree with something, they want to silence it, pass a law to ban it, or denigrate and ridicule it. What a mean-spirited, nasty lot they are. So glad not to be associated with *them.* My prediction: this network will be a HUGE hit, the others will all just die away . . . you know, sort of like Air America. If you don't have what the people want, they want buy it. Econ 101. Oh, wait, that's a capitalist principle. Better to just pass a law to force people to watch NBC or CBS for an equal number of hours or something, than to actually meet the consumer demand/needs. What dimwits the lefties are, really.

Z: Read your post. Glad you were able to participate in that.

FS: I shouldn't be surprised, but I have been taken aback by the left's blatant assault on free speech in this instance.
