Back From Vacation

Snapshots from RightKlik's trip to Maui:

Back to Reality

Bipartisanship
Opposition to the Obama Budget was bipartisan, support for the budget was not.  The spending plan passed without a single Republican vote in either the House or Senate.  Who knew Obama's bipartisanship would come so effortlessly?

Obama sows seeds of demise
If voters differ so fundamentally with the president on the very essence of his program, why do they accord him high ratings? They are like the recently married bride who took her vows 100 days ago. It would be a disaster for her life if she decides that she really doesn’t like her husband. But she keeps noticing things about him that she can’t stand. It will be a while before she walks out the door or even comes to terms with her own doubts, but it is probably inevitable that she will.

Obama's Sneering Remarks

Did Obama learn nothing from the aftermath of his comments about "bitter clingers"?

While celebrating the first 100 days of his administration's relentless campaign to insult, intimidate and ridicule every conservative in America, Obama finally broke his silence on the Tea Party Protests of April 15.  Speaking at a town hall meeting on Wednesday, Obama set aside some time to insult the Tea Party participants.  Watch the video and read the quote:

"So, you know, when you see those of you who are watching certain news channels that on which I'm not very popular and you see folks waving tea bags around let me just remind them that I am happy to have a serious conversation* about how we are going to cut our health care costs down over the long term, how we're going to stabilize Social Security. Claire and I are working diligently to do basically a thorough audit of federal spending. But let's not play games and pretend that the reason is because of the Recovery Act, because that's just a fraction of the overall problem that we've got.

"We are going to have to tighten our belts, but we're going to have to do it in an intelligent way, and we've got to make sure that the people who are helped are working American families. And we're not suddenly saying that the way to do this is to eliminate programs that help ordinary people and give more tax cuts to the wealthy. We tried that formula for eight years. It did not work, and I don't intend to go back to it."

Wow.

Need I remind you that these sneers are coming from a man who has nothing but bright smiles and warn handshakes for America's harshest critics?

Speaking as a Tea Party Protester, I have to say that my initial reaction to these disrespectful remarks was very negative.  Watching the video, it was hard not to take the comments personally.  I felt angry, deflated, discouraged and disappointed.

But after thinking about his remarks I've come to conclude that conservatives should be glad that he brought up the issue.  He has brought more attention to the movement and has given us the opportunity to keep the discussion going.  So here's your discussion...

Mr. Hussein Obama, let me point out a few problems with your statements.  You disingenuously implied the following:
  • The Tea Party protesters are not serious...they're just playing games.
  • The Tea Party protests were focused only on the porcine "Economic Recovery" Act.
  • The Protests were organized and orchestrated by Fox News
  • The Protesters want to "give" money to the rich.
Obama, you know all of this is incorrect, but because your fragile ego has been wounded and your popularity is at stake, you've decided to help spread some misinformation.  You know the protesters are gravely serious; you know that the protests were a reflection of widespread disaffection stemming from concerns about a whole range of shameful and irresponsible government actions;  you know that the protests emerged from a sudden and unprecedented grassroots movement; and you know that the protesters aren't taking to the streets to pressure the government to give money to the rich.

Obama your misinformation campaign speaks volumes about your fear.  You fear that America will wake up before it's too late to stop you.

Yes, time is running out, but it's not too late.

Government-Run Health Care: A Sensible Idea

I think government-run health care is a fantastic idea. One obnoxious bully making life-or-death decisions for 300 million people — simply brilliant!

Imagine putting the brains behind modern miracles such as the USPS, the DMV, the IRS and the VA in charge of a colossal new health-care delivery system.  What could possibly go wrong?

Administrative success?  Our Federal Government frequently loses sensitive records, has no control of the border, and spends hundreds of dollars for a single toilet seat.  People skills?  Uncle Sam rewards failure, punishes success, and discriminates on the basis of race, gender and political affiliation.  We love this!

So let's give Washington your medical records, and let them decide whether or not your kid gets that expensive new antibiotic he needs (and if they do approve, we'll let them decide whether you're going to pay twice as much for it as your irresponsible pot-smoking neighbor who's having trouble keeping up with his mortgage payments.)

Like the idea of subsidizing your neighbor's bad decisions?  You'll love the government takeover of the health care sector!  You'll be given the mandatory opportunity to subsidize care for all the illnesses that come as consequences of sloth, gluttony, lust, rage, procrastination and stupidity.

You'll come to appreciate the superiority of Marxist notions of fairness like never before.  Decisions about health care resources will be made not on the basis of what is best for the health and vitality of the patient, but on the basis of what brings health to special interest groups and vitality to politicians.

Obamacare will be the expensive, low quality, inefficient health care rationing system you've been dreaming about for years.

You say you want government-run health care?  Ignorance is bliss...for now.

Obama's Health Care Plan Will Require Rationing

Shortage of Doctors an Obstacle to Obama Goals
Obamacare will make the shortage even worse.  The shortage that exists now is a direct result of distortions in the market created by government.

Democrats reach tentative deal to ram their health care scheme down our throats.  Will anyone read the Obamacare Bill?

The Great Communicator

It has become clear that Obama has considerable difficulty expressing himself when his words haven't been prepackaged by his handlers. Obama has an unprecedented dependence on his teleprompter. You don't have to be a conservative to recognize the problem.

We need a President who can form a coherent thought in real time when confronted with an unexpected and challenging question; a Chief Executive who can give more than an arrogant, perfunctory response to his political opponents at home; a President who can communicate assertively with our adversaries abroad.

More important than Obama's communication skills, or lack thereof, is his stupid and dangerous message. I could forgive BO for his inability to communicate effectively if his goals and objectives weren't so reckless.

PAYGO
After muscling through possibly the most expensive spending bill in America history, Obama has called on Congress to support fiscal discipline. Specifically, he has proposed a Pay-as-You-Go (PAYGO) statute requiring that tax cuts and entitlement expansions be collectively deficit neutral.

Obama: "We need to adhere to the basic principle that new tax or entitlement policies should be paid for..."

What's Next?

In the wake of the Nationwide Tax Day Tea Parties, conservative groups and the GOP are asking, "What's next?"

Here's my answer: It's time to reform the Republican Party so that it is more convincingly responsive to the concerns of those who were at the Tea Parties.

Conservatives understand that government is inherently greedy, that big government is destructive, and that redistribution is unfair. On these key issues, the Republican Party is out of touch with mainstream conservatives and out of step with most voters. The Democratic Party simply ignores our demands for fiscal responsibility or uses the issue as pretense to cut spending on national defense and to increase taxes on those who are already bearing most of the burden. This is why the Tea Party Protests came to be.

If the GOP does not quickly align itself with those who are serious about fiscal responsibility, it will find itself walking down the path to extinction. This will open the door for the growth of right-of-center third parties who will splinter the conservative vote. As a result, the Democratic Party will solidify its power, move further to the left and impose socialism on this nation.

If we do not act decisively, future generations will pay a great price.

What do you think?

Questions for Obama Supporters

  • What kind of economy would be best for America?
                A.  Socialist.
                B.  Communist.
                C.  Fascist.
                D.  Capitalist.
  • Do you think the United States should have a private sector?  If you do, please explain.  If temporary government control of an industry is good, why not make it permanent?  If partial government control of an industry is helpful, why not make it complete?  If government control of one industry is good, why not put government in control of everything?
  • With which parts of the U.S. Constitution do you agree?  Which parts of the constitution would you like to see changed?
  • Obama has stated that he is in favor of tax increases (for reasons of "fairness") even when they result in DECREASES in revenue for the government.  Do you support Obama's thinking on this issue?  What do you know about the Laffer Curve?
  • Do you still believe that Obama will increase the tax burden only for individuals making $250,000 or more per year?  Are you going to hold him to that promise?
  • Liberals support progressive taxation for redistribution of wealth.  With which other Marxist principles do you agree? With which Marxist principles do you disagree?
  • Liberals have consistently opposed voter identification laws aimed at reducing voter fraud.  Why?
  • Many Americans (particularly minorities) say that their children are trapped in failing schools.  Nationwide, 52 percent of parents, and 59 percent of public school parents, support school choice.  87 percent of black parents aged 26-35 and 66.4 percent of blacks aged 18-25 support vouchers.  Liberals consistently oppose school choice.  Why?
  • Obama was asked, "At what point does a baby get human rights?" His response: "...answering that question with specificity, you know, is above my pay grade." Based on his leadership in opposition to the Illinois Born Alive Infants Protection Act, Obama has demonstrated that he believes that a baby gets human rights at an unspecified time AFTER he or she is born.  My question to liberals: is infanticide acceptable?
  • Is there anything Obama could do to lose your support?  If so, what?

Obama & Friends Playing Dumb?

A question for Obama's top advisor: What do you make of this spreading and very public disaffection with not only the government, but especially the Obama administration, the TEA parties this week?

Axelrod's Response: I think any time that you have severe economic conditions, there is always an element of disaffection that can mutate into something that's unhealthy.

Follow up question: The tea parties were unhealthy?

Axelrod's Response: Well, this is a country where we value our liberties and our ability to express ourselves. And so far these are expressions.  The thing that bewilders me is this president just cut taxes for 95 percent of the American people. So I think the tea bags should be directed elsewhere, because he certainly understands the burden that people face.

Analysis:

So we're supposed to get excited about Obama's $8-per-week income redistribution scheme?  $8 will barely pay for a gallon of gas by the end of the Obama administration.

Are Obama and Axelrod really so clueless?  Are they really so profoundly out of touch with what the Tea Parties are about?

Government is becoming bigger and more belligerent every single day.  The Federal Government commandeers a greater portion of the fruits of our labor every time we turn around.  We're mortgaging our future so we can provide financial rewards for special interest groups and buy votes for Obama and his Democrat cronies. Reshuffling an average of $8 isn't going to address these concerns.

The Tea Party crowd hasn't been fooled by Obama's despicable shell game.  We know that it will mutate into something very dangerous.

Read This — MSM's Tea Party Cognitive Dissonance:

Many posed the questions, during their Tea Party coverage, "Why all this anger now?  Why are these people protesting now, when they weren't out in the streets during GW's eight years?"

Why indeed.  The ordinary American  normally quite-silent majority — will take an awful lot of malfeasance and wasteful spending from our federal government.  Most of the time, we are just too darned busy to protest anything.  We are not getting paid to protest, unlike the anti-war and anti-poverty protesters our media covers in never-ending flurries of fury.  We don't get federal tax dollars to protest, as does ACORN, and we have no sugar-daddy like Soros paying us stipends to lend a deceitful public-protest face to his personal views.

We're the productive class, the vast middle.  We're busy living our own lives, busy building the businesses and earning our livings, busy raising our children and doing the host of volunteer services that infuse life into our Churches, Synagogues and civic organizations. We're the citizens doing the lion's share of those things which have made America the great and exceptional Nation she has been for the past 2-1/3 centuries.

Atlanta Tea Party: 15,000 Plus

Atlanta Tea Party Winding Down (10:15 p.m.)

I'm proud to count myself among the 15,000 people present at the Atlanta Tea Party.  Attendance estimates range from 10,000 to 20,000, but most reliable estimates seem to center around 15,000.  Some initial impressions:
  • The event was extremely well organized, and it ran very smoothly.
  • The energy and enthusiasm of the crowds was impressive.
  • The overwhelming majority in attendance were very friendly and very civil.
  • The entire demographic spectrum was well represented.
  • Counter-protesters had almost no impact.
  • Contrary to strange internet rumors, the event was not scaled back and did not end at 9:00 p.m.
  • The back of my protest sign was pretty popular with the crowd:
