For Women Only

Public service announcement for women...
The current health care system does not work for you. You are being abused and cheated.  The [dubious and poorly documented] facts listed below are from
  • Women are twice as likely to suffer from headaches, more likely to experience joint, back or neck pain, and more likely to suffer from psychological distress.
  • Women are also more likely to report fair or poor health than men (9.5% versus 9.0%).
  • In the individual insurance market, women are often charged higher premiums than men during their reproductive years. Holding other factors constant, a 22 year old woman can be charged one and a half times the premium of a 22 year old man.
  • In the individual insurance market, many states allow insurance companies to calculate premiums based on an individual’s characteristics such as existing health problems, age, and gender.
  • Higher costs and inadequate benefits make the individual insurance market an unreliable choice for women.
  • Comprehensive health care reform is needed to level the playing field, and make health care accessible and affordable for all women.
Don't be lulled into complacency by the fact that your life expectancy is five or six years greater than that of the average man.  Yes, men outrank women in all of the 15 leading causes of death except Alzheimer's, but that is irrelevant.  This inconvenient truth does not negate the fact that our capitalist, misogynistic health care system is out to get you simply because you are a woman.

Don't be discouraged. There is hope.  Obama will make things better.

Is the new Bleepin' Golden!'Blago' hair care covered in Obama's health care plan as treatment for split ends for the poor? If there is one thing that the homeless need more than anything, it's big hair.

that is disgustingn and typical of the lies being used to nationalize health care.

The "Premium Comparison" picture stating that a 22yo woman can be charged 1.5 times a 22yo man has a pair of glaring fallacies. Its basic premise is that women are discriminated against because they pay more in premium coverage and thus would pit women against men.
The first problem with this propaganda is that, women are much more likely (lol) than men to become pregnant at that age. Giving birth is a tremendously expensive yet common healthcare need of women at that age, so a higher premium is needed. Throw out the evil discrimination.
The second fallacy is that it shows stacks of money in front of each sex as if each were paying their own. In practice, the majority of births to 22yo women are within marriage where a partnership shares the costs of higher insurance required to cover childbirth. In many cases the woman will be unable to provide income for the family so actually the man will cover all of the premium healthcare costs.
If the picture were more accurate, the man would more likely be pictured with a stack of money and giving it to the insurer while the woman was having morning sickness with a much smaller pile of money being turned over to the insurer. Yet both would be holding hands, happy knowing they were getting the best healthcare in the world and anticipating their healthy newborn child.
Thank goodness for women and their sacrifice to bring us all here!!!

Adrienne: My wife says I always make her fell better. But she says she can understand how some wives would feel like their husbands are a headache, because not all husbands are a good as hers.

*Disclaimer: We've only been married for two years*

DaBlade: I'm sure it will be part of Obama's 2012 campaign rhetoric: "Universal access to big hair...because big hair is a right, not a privilege."

RV: Marxist propaganda is very divisive.

BR: Thanks for visiting. See you again soon.

nacilbupera: Great comments. You made many of the points I was too lazy to make in my post. I like the positive angle you take.
