Brilliant: Speaking Truth to Power

Finally...a powerful and compelling message from a GOP leader.  Michael Steele examines Obama's "reign of error."

Highlights:
  • The era of apologizing for Republican mistakes of the past is now officially over.
  • We are going to take the president head-on. The honeymoon is over. The two-party system is making a comeback, and that comeback starts today.
  • This popular politician who is our president is engaged in the most massive expansion of the old industrial age model of government that our country has ever seen.
  • Candidate Obama was very moderate in his views, but President Obama could not possibly be further to the far left.
  • Candidate Obama talked about fiscal responsibility, about government living within its means. But President Obama is saddling our unborn grandchildren with mountains of debt.
  • Candidate Obama boasted about cutting taxes, but President Obama, trust me, will have to raise taxes to pay for his massive top down government explosion.  Let’s not have that lie stay out there any longer - 95% of the people will not get a tax cut.
  • Candidate Obama was all about being bipartisan, but President Obama could not be more partisan.
  • So...what's the loyal opposition to do with this popular president? We are going to speak truth to power. We are going to speak directly, and we are going to take him on.
  • President Obama now wants to cap and tax every single American into paying higher utility rates.
  • President Obama and his allies in Congress have now put their taxing eyes on soft drinks.
  • President Obama and Democrat leaders want a brand new tax on our health care benefits and are devising a plan to give federal government bureaucrats control of our health care system.
  • President Obama is backing a plan to take away the basic right of every American worker to cast a private ballot.
  • President Obama has for the first time in our history politicized the US Census process by putting political appointees in his White House in charge of it.
  • President Obama and his far left allies are flirting with an attempt to squelch the basic freedom of speech of our nation's airwaves.
  • President Obama's Attorney General is trying to use Mexican drug gang wars as a reason to advocate a new gun ban in America.
  • President Obama's Administration has disparaged our war heroes and veterans by suggesting that they are a threat to our safety, when the truth is they are the cause of our safety.
  • You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.
  • You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.
  • You cannot help the wage earner by pulling down the wage payer.
  • You cannot further the brotherhood of man by encouraging class hatred.
  • You cannot establish security by borrowing money.
  • You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.
  • You cannot build character and courage by taking away one's initiative and incentive.
  • You cannot help individuals permanently by doing for them what they should do for themselves.
  • Too bad the chattering classes inside the Beltway are too busy fretting over phony disputes and intra-party intrigue to notice that a change has indeed come to America. This change comes in a tea bag!
  • Over the coming months Republicans will be bold in our approach. We will offer real solutions, and we will do so aggressively and without apology. We will focus on freedom and the freedom of the individual.
  • The Democrats act as if the government is the provider of the very liberties we enjoy. No fashionable politician or president, no matter how popular, can give them to us nor will we allow them to take them from us.

Great message, Steele.  Now let's back it up with substance.

He was good. Finally somebody is in the fight. Mix it up Steele! Kick his ass! Hope Steel has his house in order because the evil empire is about to strike. We need multiple fronts and we need to get at least one of the 3 networks to get back into the news business.

He should go to Rush for his speeches. Rush is the only one that tells it like it really is.

Republicans need to apologize less and stand up for what we believe more. Easier said than done especially with the current crop of spineless, gutless wonders who live in fear of the adversarial press.

There needs to be a modicum of fairness in the press, but frankly, I don't know how likely that is.

This was a wonderful speech, and I hope and pray that we have some good leaders to back it up.

MCO: "We need multiple fronts and we need to get at least one of the 3 networks to get back into the news business."

That would be a MIRACLE. If the GOP would start talking like MS did in that speech, the Democrat Media would have no choice but to listen.

IAGNB: They had better listen to
Rush. If they throw him under the bus, the base will crumble and they'll go the way of the Whigs.

Cube: "...gutless wonders who live in fear of the adversarial press. There needs to be a modicum of fairness in the press, but frankly, I don't know how likely that is."

GOP leaders just have to accept the fact that they're going to get pilloried by the media. Republicans need to learn to relish the negative attention. They should know that when they earn the contempt of the democrat media elite, they earn respect from the voters.

Come on GOP, it's cool to be the bad guys!

Linda: I think the leaders are there, the GOP just needs to wise up and promote those leaders who believe in conservative ideals.

FANTASTIC! Hurray for Michael Steele! Now I haven't watched the video yet, so did he mention anything about CLOSING our early primary states? I have a theory about how we ended up with the back-stabbing RINO as our candidate.

The beast was SO confident in her ability to win the Dem primary that she freed up MANY of her early primary voters to vote for McCain because HE is the one she wantewd to face.

We GOTTA close our primaries, especially the early states!

JINGOIST: "I have a theory about how we ended up with the back-stabbing RINO as our candidate."

I know that theory and I agree with it. Dem/Obama voters in NH vote for McCain, allowing Hillary to win but giving Mr. RINO the opportunity for a comeback.

You're right. The GOP needs to insist: You want an early primary? Close it!

RK here's what I worry about. If we DON'T close our primary, we'll face this EVERY time the Dems have a powereful candidate.

Obie will be unapposed in 3 years and change. The GOP primaries will be a big mud puddle stomp for these collectivist vermin and I've FRIGGIN HAD IT!!!

MIKE STEELE CLOSE OUR PRIMARIES!@

I believe in FREE choice!
Oppose slavery? Don't own one...but ..support the right to choose..

Don't believe in abortions..don't have one...but support the right to choose..

Those who believe that life begins at conception can not be in favor of the right to choose...But don't knock it until youve tried it..or compromise on that issue.

Jingoist: I agree. It's an issue of critical importance. We should blog about it.

Rick: I don't endorse Mr. Steele's unintelligible views on the issue of abortion. Comments on abortion (and other important issues) were conspicuously absent from that speech.

JINGOIST said...

I agree RK, I'll think of a way to argue our point here in the next three days. It'll be the Rights of the Party to pick our own candidates
vs.
the rights of the states to fashion their primaries.

Oh boy! ugh

Jingoist: Great, I'll post on the topic on Monday night. I'll link to your post when it's up.
