Obama's Suicidal Policies

Obama has been working himself to the point of exhaustion trying to ensure that our economic crisis does not go to waste. If he can't get our country on the path to European-style socialism now, he might never have a better opportunity. Thus the sense of urgency.

With all the hand waving, grandstanding and parochialism that has been on display lately, let's not forget that there is at least one issue that is more important than our current economic woes: national defense.

While campaigning, Obama made several promises regarding national defense:
  • I will cut tens of billions of dollars in spending.
  • I will cut investments in missile defense systems.
  • I will not weaponize space.
  • I will slow our development of future combat systems.
Unfortunately, despite the fact that we live in a world that is as dangerous as it has ever been, Obama has provided every indication that he intends to keep these promises.

In the short time Obama has been president, he has shown that he does not take seriously the threats we face. He continues to insist that we can reason with madmen who have nuclear ambitions; he has begun to formulate serious plans to make significant cuts in defense spending, he has taken steps to halt the development of missile defense systems; and on the domestic front, Obama threatened to make cuts in support for military service-related medical care. These are not the actions I would expect from a commander-in-chief who understands the reality of the post 9-11 world.

The Heritage Foundation has produced an excellent documentary that exposes the life-threatening myths about defending America. 33 Minutes: Protecting America in the New Missile Age tells the story of the very real threat foreign enemies pose to every one us. The truth is brutal.

33 Minutes is the definitive documentary exposing the untold vulnerability we all face and the action plan necessary to revive a defense system that America uniquely can develop, maintain, and employ for its own defense and the peace-loving world's security.

Scary, yet this is what the liberal left, such as obama want to do. Leave us defenseless to our enemies, out of some fear of appearing threatening.

He is so naive. The Left believes that all this warfare stuff is bad and we should not participate. They truly believe that diplomacy will work eventually. They want to talk instead of fight. As history has proved, you cannot do this and must be proactive. Lib just ignore history as usual and continue this weak, ineffective way of handling our enemies.

Personally, I don't think we'll even have enough money to make a good Socialist State when all is said and done. I think Obama is delibertly out to break our country as a World leader. With China on the heels of everything, Obama doesn't have the leadership, strength or wherewithall to deal with China. The man has no common sense. I hope someone wises up and get control before everything our country stands for goes down the toilet.

CS: Obama has to know that his line of thinking makes us more vulnerable. Does he know nothing about history?

FL: Time for the left to wake up. If they don't, we will all pay a very heavy price.

WHT: I'm afraid you are correct.

Suek: Our enemies see what we see. They know Obama is weak. The only question is when will they choose to exploit that weakness.

CR: I have to wonder if educating Obama about the dangers of this world would do any good.

Jean: Seems like it takes a major crisis to get anyone's attention. Then people forget after a couple of years.

You know...I don't disagree with you. Still, you remember that old saw about "if you owe the bank a million dollars, the bank owns you. If you owe the bank ten million dollars, you own the bank"? To a certain extent, China has so much invested in the US that it may do more to temper their response than anything we could do militarily.

Something to think about....what _is_ the long term effect of being so deeply in debt to China???

Suek: I think you have brought up some important points. I have VERY little knowledge on these issues, but it would seem to make sense to have a stronger economic relationship with India than with China.

Well...another old saw...
Keep your friends close and your enemies closer...

India is sort of in-between, as I see it. China is definitely worrisome.

Suek: At least India is democratic...and they don't have their eye on California.

China already is looking for a different, alternative, money-sort. And discussing it. Also Russia. Matter of time, for America is very fast running down the hill. The Chinese just HAVE to do something.

Anon: The dollar will be practically worthless by the time Obama's presidency is over, I'm sure.
