GOP Failure 2008: The Take-Home Message

Leftists, moderates and RINOs, in their deep compassion for conservatives, and in their sincere wish to see the conservative movement thrive, have made numerous "helpful" post-election observations.  To provide an example, I quote the words of Mort Kondracke. "In recent years, Republicans have let right-wing talk show hosts whip the GOP base into frenzies...that have branded the party as troglodyte."  Translation: If conservatives would stop subjecting themselves to brainwashing by cave-dwelling radio talk show hosts, they would see the light of day and would begin to promote a more enlightened, progressive agenda.  If that weren't so insulting I'd say "nice try."

Ignoring the voices of the conservative base is exactly why the GOP is in so much trouble.  Despite the objections of the most conservative Republicans, the GOP nominated Maverick McCain, and as we all know, this experiment with moderate conservatism was a complete failure.  For principled conservatives, the take-home message from Election 2008 is very clear. "The challenge is not to water down the conservative message, but to beef it up, even while making it more persuasive to those who are skeptical."

Ignore them, Talk radio has been one of the greatest assets for this country and the GOP for past 30 years. I don't agree with everything I hear from Rush or Hannity, but so what. Those guys tag the democrats and expose the media for the frauds they are. To ignore that contribution is just plain stupid.

What is with you Conseritives? It must be a sickness, and these poor conservatives simply can't help themselves when it comes to passionately fighting against any and all measures that would make for a more just world. This condition, let's call it "conservativitus", clearly involves a serious deficiency in both compassion and empathy, a coldness of the heart, if you will...
Today it's anti abortion, and tomorrow it will be anti eating meat.
What ever the cause, these conservatives, as if inflicted with a bad case of Tourette's Syndrome, seem to be unable to control their impulse to scream out "No way!!" whenever any change is proposed to make the world a better place.
It's as if they love living in the past.

Biased Girl..
Both the anti-abortion and animal rights movements consider their cause a form of social progress. Do they not?

It is so refreshing to find someone that understands conservatism, and it's principles. The GOP drifted away from it's bast and that is why we lost the election plain and simple! I saw your comment on throwing stones and had to come check you out. I am glad I did. I invite you to a place called Conservative Convictions......http://conservativeconvictions.blogspot.com

It's a place we set up to try and bring conservatism back to the GOP!

Great blog you have here! :-)

Robert, Left, Biased Girl, Jennifer...thanks for all the comments.

Left...in what, in your view, is a good example of conservative opposition to justice?

Left, I HIGHLY recommend the following link (a very interesting article written by a liberal/progressive):
