Liberal Multi-Culturalism Makes No Room for American Patriotism

From Hot Air:

"On Cinco de Mayo, several students decided to wear clothing with American flag designs to make a statement about their own views on heritage — including one Hispanic student. Teachers demanded that they either turn their shirts inside out and remove all other American flag-themed clothing or face suspension for 'defiance.' Their parents are outraged"

The boys said the administrators called their T-shirts “incendiary” that would lead to fights on campus.

A few youths were sent home from the local high school for subervisely wearing American-flag T-shirts on Cinco de Mayo. “I think they should apologize,’cause it is a Mexican Heritage Day,” Annicia Nunez, a Live Oak High student, said. “We don’t deserve to be get disrespected like that. We wouldn’t do that on Fourth of July.”

Note the use of “we,” suggesting an ethnic allegiance that trumps the national one; note the equation of a Mexican Heritage Day with the Fourth of July; note the strange idea that the sight of the American flag leads to one being “disrespected”; and, of course, note the action by the school’s administration — banishing the boys for apparently politically incorrect, subversive behavior.

"Incendiary? Since when is it incendiary to express patriotism for one’s own country? This is absurd, as are the demands for apologies from these students for offending those who observed Cinco de Mayo...

"Apparently, Live Oak High School specializes in victimology and political correctness. Maybe they should teach civics at Live Oak … to the teachers and administrators."

...

It is becoming increasingly clear that liberal "multi-culturalism" has no room for American patriotism...and no tolerance for traditional American values.

Multi-culturalism has become a cover for anti-American bigotry.

The Mexicans can do what they like -in Mexico - on the 4th of July. I don't think the Mexicans will be exhibiting any cultural sensitivity either.

ILBR: It's anti-American bigotry. It's time to draw a line in the sand.

BQ: It's anti-American bigotry.

Lexcen: The school certainly wasn't being sensitive to the cultural identity of the American students.

All men delusion, but not equally. Those who fancy by night in the dusty recesses of their minds, wake in the heyday to become aware of that it was swell-headedness: but the dreamers of the epoch are threatening men, for the duration of they may sketch on their dreams with open eyes, to create them possible.

Public school is all about being submissive to authority, kids aren't there to learn anything worth their time. You can't speak up for what is right in government public schools, don't you know that?

WHT: Unfortunately, it's becoming more obvious all the time.

Z: The proponents of multi-culturalism are intent upon tearing down traditional American culture. The tolerance spiel has been a big bait and switch routine.

CG: Government schools are a travesty of education.
