Are You Happy Now?

At the height of Obamamania, between the election and Obama's inauguration, I challenged liberal readers to look into the future and ask themselves if there was anything Obama could ever do to lose their support. To my everlasting surprise, I got some answers...
Is there anything Obama could do to lose your support? If so, what?

Easily. For instance, he could...

1. Fail to end the war in Iraq.
2. Have a heavy-handed, questionably legal foreign policy in which he has the US invade countries and conduct attacks that result in killing innocent people or breaking US and int'l law.
3. In general, act as if the US is above the law
4. Continue to prop up the auto and oil industries, and in general provide welfare to corporations
5. Fail to begin to wean US over-dependence on fossil fuels.

For starters...
Twenty-seven months later...
You voted for Obama ― Are you happy now?

Post-American Humble Pie

They surely got what they deserved. Here are some "highlights" from the Obamas' awkward post-American pitch to the International Olympic Committee:
  • Barry: No one expects the Games to solve all our collective challenges.
  • Barry: One of the legacies I want to see coming out of the Chicago 2016 hosting of the Games is a reminder that America at its best is open to the world...I think that over the last several years sometimes that fundamental truth about the United States has been lost.
  • Barry: Nearly one year ago, on a clear November night, people from every corner of the world gathered in the city of Chicago or in front of their televisions to watch the results of the U.S. Presidential election. Their interest was wasn't about me as an individual.
  • Michelle: I am dreaming of an Olympic and Paralympic Games in Chicago.... that will expose all our neighborhoods to new sports and new role models; that will show every child that regardless of wealth, or gender, or race, or physical ability, there is a sport and a place for them, too.
  • Barry: I lived in Indonesia for a time.
  • Michelle: My dad was my hero.
  • Barry: There is nothing I would like more than to step just a few blocks from my family's home, with Michelle and our two girls, and welcome the world back into our neighborhood. [Let's make the Olympics convenient for the Obama family.]
  • Barry: We know how to put on big events and scores of visitors and spectators will tell you we do it well. [Fewer than 100 people?]

And don't forget these golden oldies:

  • Barry: I'm always worried about using the word "victory."
  • Michelle: "For the First Time in My Adult Lifetime, I'm Really Proud of My Country" [After 44 agonizing years]
  • Barry: I believe in American exceptionalism, just as I suspect that the Brits believe in British exceptionalism and the Greeks believe in Greek exceptionalism.

After loosing, Obama's attempt to save face was just as pathetic as his effort to win: "One of the things that I think is most valuable about sports is that you can play a great game and still not win."

Obama's senior adviser, David Axelrod: "This president will go anywhere he can to promote this country." ...You know, given Obama's poor performance and his defeatist philosophy, I think he should probably stay home.

Who will lead the 'post-American era'?

For the first time in my adult lifetime, I’m really proud of the IOC.

Conservatives are rooting against America an arrogant, America-bashing, self-centered defeatist.
