Shocking Win For Herman Cain

Allow me to quote myself:

"Great lines, great delivery, great defense of conservative principles. Cain got his mojo back."

That was my reaction to Herman Cain's performance the recent GOP debate. Republicans in Florida were impressed, too.

This from Stacy Mccain:

UPDATE:

Our friends over at Pundit Press believe that this powerful statement earned Cain a great deal of support...

UPDATE II:

Maybe Morgan Freeman can play President Cain in a movie!

New York Times Chart of the Day

Cain on top.

Coming from the NYT, this is taken with a grain of salt, but here's interesting analysis of the GOP race from Nate Silver. Go Cain!

UPDATE II: HUCKABEE IS OUT

UPDATE III: RSM... "I owe a hat-tip to RightKlik for his Twitter tip about the Nate Silver 538 chart showing that Herman Cain stands to benefit most from Huckabee’s 2012 no-go."

Thanks!

I Found RINO Droppings at CPAC

I'm here at CPAC, where everyone is [supposedly] conservative. But apparently, some RINOs have wandered into the herd of 11,000:

I cannot attest to whether David Frum and his supporters are sane, but conservative they are not. NTTAWWT, but this is the Conservative Political Action Conference.

Addendum:

How do you explain this? A CPAC straw poll:

Five percent is 5% too much!

Perhaps not coincidentally, I did spot Eleanor Clift lurking in the shadows earlier today.

Everything You Need to Know About Obamacare in 16 Words

Donald M. Berwick

ObamaCare won't save the economy, it won't make health care more affordable and it won't cause us to live longer, healthier lives.

The "primary function" of Obamacare is to take your power to make your own health care decisions and to give that power to the ruling class. Don't take my word for it:
President Obama's Medicare chief, Dr. Donald Berwick, explains, "Traditional medical ethics, based on the doctor-patient dyad must be reformulated...The primary function of regulation in health care, especially as it affects the quality of medical care, is to constrain decentralized individualized decision making.
Translation: "You're not in charge of your health care. Your doctor is not in charge. We are."

Go read this excellent article for more.

Update: Do you know who has all the right ideas about real health care reform? Read this great piece by Robert Stacy McCain.

Update II: Nothing to see here, move along.

My First Political Contribution

As the first anniversary of this blog approaches (October 26), I've been thinking quite a bit about my plans for the future.

This time last year, as Obama's inevitable victory was unfolding, I realized that I could no longer sit on the sidelines, just watching the news and worrying about the future. So I joined the blogosphere.

Blogging helped me to make some important connections, and through those connections I have become more involved in the political process. This year, for the first time in my life, I have been emailing Congress, writing the President, attending political protest rallies and tweeting anyone who will listen.

All these things have been helpful, but they're still not enough. Congress and Obama aren't listening. We have to keep shouting, but we have to do more. We have to make a financial investment.

If you're like me (and 98% of everyone else in the country), you live in a district that is safe for the incumbent. In my case, that's fine. But wherever we live, we have an obligation to assist our conservative friends who are struggling to tip the scales in hotly contested races in other areas of the country. They need our help and welcome our involvement. So please join me in support of candidates who stand firmly on conservative principles, wherever they happen to live.

Here's a great place to start: a conservative candidate in New York needs our help. Doug Hoffman is fighting a liberal Republican and a moderate Democrat to represent New York's 23rd Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives (an open seat). I live over 1,100 miles from his neck of the woods, but today, I sent Hoffman a small contribution.

This race is critically important because Hoffman's conservative New York district has been abandoned by out-of-touch GOP elites who have been dumping truckloads of money on the liberal Republican candidate.

Tea party activists have risen to the occasion and are fighting for Doug Hoffman, a candidate whose values are in sync with the district.

Hoffman jumped into the race to fill the conservative void after he was passed over by the local Republican power brokers. He joined the Conservative Party, which is well established and influential in New York. Hoffman is a no-frills candidate, but he's strong and he's surging in the polls.

As the only congressional election this fall, this race will have special significance as a political barometer. Hoffman's win would send an important message to the GOP establishment: "Conservatives are in control now, 2010 belongs to us."
