Illinois RINO Alert

Remember when Nancy Pelosi passed her radical Cap & Trade Bill in the House? With its oppressive new taxes, new mandates, and new regulations, Cap & Trade turned out to be far too radical, and the Senate wouldn't touch it with a thirty-nine-and-a-half foot pole. But with the help of eight traitorous Republicans, Pelosi was able to push the infamous climate change legislation further than ever before.

One of those eight Republicans, Mark Kirk, wants to be the GOP nominee for the U.S. Senate seat in Illinois. As recently as 2004, that seat was occupied by a conservative, but the Republican establishment has thrown its support behind Mark "Cap&Trade" Kirk.

As Mark Levin points out, Kirk's support for cap and trade was inexcusable:

Any Republican who votes for Cap and Trade is a complete sellout because Cap and Trade is big government industrial policy that reaches into everybody's home...

Kirk knew that, he was the one of the ones who was getting all these calls. And he defied the people.

Unfortunately, Kirk's record of recklessness is not limited to his support for Cap and Trade. Let's review who Kirk really is, via Free Republic:

Cap&Trade Kirk must be stopped...but we only have eight days! The GOP senate primary is on February 2nd. Fortunately there's a solid conservative for whom we can rally: Patrick Hughes.

Hughes is the most serious conservative candidate running against Mark Kirk:

If conservatives come out early next week in an organized fashion, throw a pile of targeted money into Illinois, and rapidly drive up Pat Hughes’ name identification, the polling in Illinois suggests Hughes will win.

He is not polling well against Kirk right now, but then he has significantly lower name identification. All the polling suggests Kirk’s support is very weak and once people find out about Hughes, they break overwhelmingly for Hughes.

[emphasis added]

Obama's Approval Index Continues To Plummet

(Approval index = Strong Approval minus Strong Disapproval)

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll shows that 32% of the nation's voters now strongly approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. 37% strongly disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of –5.

Overall, 52% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President's performance so far. Yesterday and today are the first time that the number of voters who approve of the President’s performance has slipped below the 53% share of the vote he won last November. Forty-eight percent now disapprove.

I guess Michelle O. can go back to being ashamed of her country.

Hear That Giant Sucking Sound?

H.R. 2454’s Transfer of U.S. Wealth to Foreign Nations

Based on EIA and EPA data. Dollars in millions. Approximate cost to customers in 2012

Hear that giant sucking sound? That's the sound of Obama's Energy Tax. Cap & Trade will suck the money from your pockets so your dollars can go to people who deserve your money more than you do.

Thanks America, for voting Democrat!

Spreading the Wealth: The Inequities of Obama's Energy Tax

Based on EIA and CBO data. Dollars in millions, cost to customers in 2012.

Are you a looter, or one of the victims?

Based on the allowance allocation formula in [the Cap and Trade bill] for electricity consumers, the red states will not have enough allowances to cover their emissions from electricity generation. The shortfall in allowances to the red states will lead to higher electricity costs for consumers, the total of which will roughly correlate with the dollar losses noted on the map. For example, Texas electricity consumers will see electricity costs go up by roughly $1 billion. To make up the shortfall, red states will have to seek high-cost, non-CO2 emitting electricity sources, reduce electricity production and consumption, purchase allowances from the green states, or purchase domestic and international offsets...

People from the electoral-jackpot states New York and California stand to benefit handsomely from Obama's "Cap and Trade" energy tax. Folks from other states, especially the rubes from fly-over country, won't be so lucky. Bitter clingers from Pennsylvania will be paying the electric bill for people in New York. Gun nuts in Georgia will carry the water for the citizens of Connecticut. Bible thumpers in Texas will subsidize the cost of living in California.

Spreading the wealth around: America asked for it, Obama will deliver. Elections have consequences!

If you are from a looter state, don't forget to call and thank the tr8tors for their vote. (It is interesting to note that all of the Republican defectors, except Mark Kirk, are from looter states.)

The Cap and Trade bill was narrowly passed by the House.

WSJ: It's no coincidence that the liberals most invested in cap and trade Barbara Boxer, Henry Waxman, Ed Markey come from California or the Northeast.

Kill Cap and Trade!

Kill the Cap and Trade bill before the Cap and Trade bill kills the economy.

The Cap and Trade bill, a.k.a. the Waxman-Markey bill, will drain $1.3 trillion to $1.9 trillion from the economy between fiscal years 2012 and 2019. Moreover, Cap and Trade is a giant regulatory power grab.

The Cap and Trade Energy Tax bill, would have the following catastrophic effects:
  • Destroy 1,105,000 American jobs per year
  • Raise electricity rates 90%
  • Raise inflation-adjusted gasoline prices by 74%
  • Raise residential natural gas prices by 55%
  • Raise an average family's annual energy bill by $1,500 annually
  • Increase federal debt by $29,150 per person
Billionaire investor Warren Buffett supported Barack Obama's Presidential bid last year, and has never been a proponent of major tax cuts. But in an interview today with CNBC, Buffet slammed the new Energy Tax being voted on in Congress this week saying it is a "huge tax" that will "harm an awful lot of people".

U.S. House of Representatives will vote on the new Energy Tax legislation today (June 6, 2009).

'Clash of the Titans' pits Obama against Cheney on Guantánamo closure
Cheney, stressing repeatedly that he and Bush had kept the US from a further attack after 9/11, appears to be setting up Obama to take the blame for another terrorist attack. Obama, near the close of his own speech, anticipated this, and acknowledged that the US still faced the threat of attack and would do so next year, five years from now and even 10 years from now.

The Obama-Cheney Showdown
I, for one, am gratified to see this White House forced to put national security on the front burner. If not for the forceful public defenses by Vice President Cheney of the aggressive, proactive measures the last administration took to keep us safe, the current commander-in-chief would be happily gabbling about solar panels and weatherization subsidies or somesuch.
