Rep. Renee Ellmers: The Stimulus Has Failed!

Tea party Favorite Renee Ellmers (via Gateway Pundit):

In the Republican’s weekly address, Rep. Renee Ellmers of North Carolina said it’s time to reduce regulations, expand domestic energy production and require the government to consider the effect of federal rules on hiring.

Rep. Ellmers pointed out that the stimulus has failed. President Obama promised that the stimulus would keep the unemployment rate below 8%, yet it is currently at 9.7%.

The Republicans have a plan. The Democrats have…slogans.

Ten Buck Fridays: Victory Edition

Congratulations to all the "Ten Buck Fridays" winners, participants and nominees. Win or lose, we're proud of the sacrifices that went into their efforts to save our Republic from Big Government run amok. Together, we all created a wave, and the effects of that wave will be felt for many years.

A special note of recognition goes out to the congressional candidates who actively participated in TBF and who went on to win the big prize on November 2:

Things are also looking good for Ann Marie Buerkle, but the counting continues. The final result in David Harmer's race is also pending.

Here's a more complete list of congressional candidates who participated in Ten Buck Fridays:

NOTE: Here's an important message from Renee Ellmers:
Election night, after the ten counties in my district had reported their votes, I led Bob Etheridge by 2,100 votes. (That number is crucial because under North Carolina law Congressman Etheridge is not entitled to an ‘automatic recount’ if he trails by more than 1% – or 1,888 votes.)

Then, yesterday afternoon – unexpectedly – the vote totals changed. The State Board of Elections reported my lead had dropped to 1,600 votes. Two hours later Bob Etheridge announced he intended to call for a recount.

As a result, last night my campaign began hiring attorneys – eleven attorneys in all. One in each county to monitor each recount and an attorney to work with the North Carolina State Board of Elections.

Right now, our best estimate of the minimum cost we face is $50,000. But, of course, my campaign spent every penny we had before the election.

Yesterday, we appealed to the National Republican Congressional Committee for support, asking if they could contribute to help pay the costs of this recount. Their answer, unfortunately, was, No – that we would have to raise the money to pay for the recount ourselves.

Please help Renee Ellmers in this crucial battle: Help Our Recount Effort

Update: Thanks to Not One Red Cent for the TBF plug: This election isn't over yet!

Help Renee Ellmers Now!

Why?

Answer via The Other McCain:
That the GOP won the House is some kind of miracle, considering the total ineptitude of Pete Sessions and his crew of bumbling dingbats at the NRCC. Renee Ellmers beat Bob Etheridge in North Carolina. Now the Democrat is asking for a recount and Ellmers has gone public with the fact that the NRCC is MIA:
Months ago, I went to Washington and asked the National Republican Congressional Committee and many conservative leaders to help my campaign. Many conservative groups – like the Susan B. Anthony List, Concerned Women of America, Freedom Works, and Sarah Palin’s Sarah PAC all helped, but the NRCC declined. Later, they did support other campaigns in North Carolina – which, unfortunately, lost – but we never received their support. In fact, their spokesman told the press “that the campaign wasn’t ready for prime time” – which actually made it even harder for us to raise money. So, I am doubtful we will get support from the NRCC to help with the expense of the recount.
Read the rest of McCain's brutal but spot-on analysis.

Is the Ellmers strategy part of the GOP's supposedly-brilliant comeback plan, suspiciously lauded by the New York Times?

I just sent Renee $25. Please send what you can.

TBF Congratulates Renee Ellmers!

When the Bob Etheridge story broke, I was pleased to learn that Bob had a viable opponent ― Renee Ellmers. And as I read more about Ellmers, I discovered that she isn't just viable, she's actually a formidable conservative candidate. As a Registered Nurse who works as Clinical Director of a Wound Care Center, Ellmers is keenly interested in taking a serious and proactive stand against the democrats' health control legislation.

Now that the benevolent Democratic tyrants in Washington have appointed themselves to be our health care "deciders," it's good to see so many conservative health care professionals running for Congress. These are people who have demanding careers, but they've decided they can no longer stay on the political sidelines.

Both the top two candidates in this week's photo-finish TBF poll are health care providers who are determined to dismantle ObamaCare and replace it with real health care reform. Unfortunately, however, conservatives like Renee Ellmers and Dan Benishek can't always rely on the GOP establishment for the support they need. Recent events have reminded us that conservative reform is a threat to the GOP establishment.

That's why we must unite at the grassroots level to defeat statism. We have to invest our own resources in order to restore our freedom. Don't wait for someone else to do it. Get involved now by giving money directly to a candidate who deserves your help. Including today, there are only 10 Fridays between now and the November elections. Conservatives all over the country urgently need our help. This Friday, please make a generous donation to Renee Ellmers.

Ten Buck Fridays: August 22 - 27

We'll introduce this week's TBF poll with some thoughts from The Other McCain:

"Money isn’t everything, but it’s essential to running any political campaign...

"These candidates can’t depend on the Washington-based Republican establishment to bail them out. RNC reportedly has only $5 million cash on hand. The NRCC has $17 million, compared to $33 million for the DCCC. If conservatives online don’t start paying attention, Nov. 2 may be another one of those 'agony of defeat' moments — a long night of tearful Republican concession speeches that brings smiles to the faces of Chris Matthews, Rachel Maddow and Keith Olbermann."

Congratulations Renee Elmers!
