To Congress I say, "May you have a miserable August recess. You really deserve it." Before I go any further, here's some background info:
"By tradition and by law, Congress recesses for the month of August. During the Senate's early years, members attempted to adjourn in the spring, before the summer's heat and oppressive humidity overwhelmed them and their small staff.
"When the Senate moved to its current chamber in 1859, senators were optimistic about its 'modern' ventilation system, but they soon found the new system ineffective. Long sessions were plagued by hot and stormy weather. The 1920s brought 'manufactured weather' to the Senate chamber, but even modern climate control could not cope with the hottest days, forcing 20th-century senators to escape the summer heat.
"In 1970, finally facing the reality of long sessions, Congress mandated a summer break as part of the Legislative Reorganization Act. Today, the August recess continues to be a regular feature of the schedule--a chance to spend time with family, meet with constituents back home, and catch up on summer reading."
With a highly controversial 1000 page health care bill hanging over Congress's heads like the Sword of Damocles, "summer reading" had better be the top priority!
This year, August recess is scheduled to start on August 7 and continue until September 8 for the Senate. For the House, the official August recess spans from August 3 to September 4.
The August recess has already started with a bang, with hostile constituents all over the country pounding down on the Washington elites like never before. Forget the carefree trip to Martha's Vineyard. Congressmen have been so rattled, they've been using sick children as human shields to protect them from their constituents' oppressive and overwhelming wrath.
This is, of course, as it should be. As Thomas Jefferson noted, "When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty." So keep it up, America! Has there ever been a time when the Federal Government of the United States more urgently needed to learn to fear the people?
I hope to encourage you and your friends to continue to make August a miserable month for our derelict lawmakers. Please take action against ObamaCare (and Cap and Trade) every single day during the August recess. Call, write, email, fax, tweet, blog, go to townhall meetings, go to tea party protests — attack from every angle!
Let's get Congress on the right track and implore them to scrap the ObamaCare bill. I believe in health care reform, but ObamaCare is not what this nation needs.

Brilliant Conservative economist speaks out against ObamaCare. "Implementing Mr. Obama’s reforms would literally be worse than doing nothing."
Not a good sign for BHO. When you lose swing state hacks like Claire "ACORN" McCaskill (D), you know you're in trouble.
Karl Rove: "President Obama is no longer shaping public dialogue on health-care reform."

Washington Post: “Southern Republicans have seceded from sanity” Will GOP speak out against this nonsense?

I don't want to shut her up. I don't think she should be censored. But the double standard here, we're talking about the Supreme Court, the highest court in the land where policy is made, according to this woman, and where policy should be made. Look, bigotry is bigotry. Racism is racism. Superiority is superiority. Contempt for people beneath you is contempt for people beneath you. Thinking you're better than everybody else is thinking you're better than everybody else. This woman has all of this. There's not a whole lot of humility here. In fact, I want to go back to this program yesterday, as I play a sound bite of me, which are always some of the best sound bites we play, followed by a sound bite of Obama also in LA yesterday after he told everybody the economy's coming back from the brink and they ain't seen nothing yet in a state that's bankrupt, he then talked about Sotomayor. Here is what I said yesterday on this program.
We have here an angry man with a chip on his shoulder, not some cool, calm, collected guy, but a cold, calculating, angry man who did hear what Jeremiah Wright said for 20 years while sitting in the pews of that church in Chicago. He did hear what Bill Ayers said about America. America's unjust, it was constituted as unjust, and that unjustness permeates to this day. So now it's time to change all that and we're going to change all that by desecrating the Constitution.
Hence, Sonia Sotomayor.
But just as Obama is going to return the nation's wealth to its, quote, unquote, rightful owners, we're going to have justice, we're going to have Sonia Sotomayor walking up those steps, she's gonna provide justice finally. We're going to not only return the nation's wealth to its rightful owners, we're going to get even with the people who stole it in the first place, and that's the justice we're going to have. That's why she was chosen. Sonia Sotomayor was chosen for the express purpose of reflecting his racial attitudes. Let's be honest. He coulda chosen a different Hispanic; he coulda chosen a different female. He chose Sonia Sotomayor because she is the mirror image of his racial attitudes. I want her walking up those steps and providing some justice! Could have been Al Sharpton saying that.
Don't give up Mr. Hopey Changy still has 3 1/2 more years to become worst than Carter.
I agree with you and plan to continue to contact my Senators & Representative daily to express my outrage of ObamaCare, Cap & Trade, etc... & since they are left libs - I hope it does make their recess miserable, but I hope they can begin to listen & realize how socialistic and destructive ObamaCare is to our economy and our freedoms.
Thank you for your impassioned and informative posts. I taken the liberty of adding you to my bloglist. Keep up the great fight.
Libloather: Sotomayor was the perfect choice for Obama. Her soul is probably just as rotten as his.
Ciao Baby: Worse than Carter indeed...
Worst Prez
Red: They really need to feel the heat. Not one member of Congress should dismiss honest law abiding citizen taxpayers as a loathsome mob. Congress needs to feel the rhetorical pain until their attitudes have been thoroughly adjusted.
NG: Thanks for your kind words. And thanks for visiting.
Super duper blog.
By the way you were right about the Pharmaceutical companies, Obama tossed them under the bus this morning.
I love the Thomas Jefferson quote: "When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty." Sounds so much more presidential than "If you get hit, we will punch back twice as hard...". Now, if DaBlade was a violent man, he would state here and now that he has never met a lib who's a$$ he could not kick. Just sayin'.
Hi RightKlik: Once again, you have a stellar post with SO much great info! It is starting out to be an awful August! They are turning up the heat now and the thugs are in full force. I loved the pic, that cheered me up....if only life were so peaceful. Have a lovely weekend, Bunni.
The Thomas Jefferson quote is spot on. And it seems that the tea parties and the outspoken, outraged citizens at various townhalls across America right now have caught onto the spirit of Jefferson's words.
the more damage he does, the easier it will be in the mid term elections to clean house, as the label of Democrat will be synonymous with failure, just as it always has been
Exactly! On to 2010 and overturning this power-mad Congress!

Here's a scary link, RK...we might lose after all. I honestly thought we'd beat ObamaScare.
MSO: Thank you.
RV: Last I heard, they were still planning to spend $150-200 million to help BO push ObamaCare. They will regret it.
DaBlade: Those whiny pacifists...!
AB: Thank you. And thanks for sharing the post on Twitter.
AOW: I'm becoming increasingly optimistic about 2010. Speaking of townhalls and teaparties, here is THE townhall to attend:
America's Healthcare Town Hall
Sadly, I won't be able to make it, but I hope some RightKlik readers will be there.
Z: Blogger chopped off the end of your link. What's the title?
