Free-Market Death Panels

Liberals give themselves a big pat on the back when they point out the inconveniences and imperfections of the free market:

"You don't like government bureaucrats? Private health insurance companies have bureaucrats, too."

"You don't want rationing? Well, private insurance companies ration by denying claims."

"You're afraid of Federal death panels? Private companies have their own death panels. They deny treatment and people die!"

Sorry, but these arguments don't work for me. I can't ignore the fact that the Federal Government is infinitely more powerful and belligerent than any single private insurance company.

I can't ignore the fact that there is only one Federal Government from which to choose. If the Federal Government becomes abusive, I don't have 1,300 other Federal Governments competing for my future business.

I can't ignore the fact that when governments are entrusted with health care, they tend to crush the private alternatives, create shortages and punish those who seek refuge elsewhere.

If we give the Federal Government the power to squeeze out the private insurance companies (whether we give it the power to do so immediately or over time), the health care freedom we now take for granted will probably be lost forever.

Fannie Med

Don't be fooled. Obama is faking center-right.

The "public option" is nothing more and nothing less than government-run health care. Americans have figured that out, and they don't want it. So what do you do when you're desperate to sell a product nobody wants? You rename it.

Co-ops = Public Option = Government-run health care

The sooner America learns that equation, the better.
  • Co-Ops Would Be Funded By Federal Government.
  • Co-Ops Would Force Individuals Who Want To Join To Go Through State Governments.
  • The Federal Government Would Use Co-Ops To Monopolize Health Insurance.

Fannie Med, the mini-me public option:

“[T]hese co-ops sound a lot like a health-care Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac... The duo proceeded to use their government subsidy to dominate the market and drive out private competitors.”

Sen. Leader Harry Reid: "We’re going to have some type of public option, call it 'co-op,' call it what you want..."

If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck...

Torches and Pitchforks

We thought they were sheeple, but they're not! Finally, some irrefutable signs of intelligent life in the political world:

Distorting, but no longer ignoring, the MSM reports on conservative protests.

Government-Run Health Care: A Sensible Idea

I think government-run health care is a fantastic idea. One obnoxious bully making life-or-death decisions for 300 million people — simply brilliant!

Imagine putting the brains behind modern miracles such as the USPS, the DMV, the IRS and the VA in charge of a colossal new health-care delivery system.  What could possibly go wrong?

Administrative success?  Our Federal Government frequently loses sensitive records, has no control of the border, and spends hundreds of dollars for a single toilet seat.  People skills?  Uncle Sam rewards failure, punishes success, and discriminates on the basis of race, gender and political affiliation.  We love this!

So let's give Washington your medical records, and let them decide whether or not your kid gets that expensive new antibiotic he needs (and if they do approve, we'll let them decide whether you're going to pay twice as much for it as your irresponsible pot-smoking neighbor who's having trouble keeping up with his mortgage payments.)

Like the idea of subsidizing your neighbor's bad decisions?  You'll love the government takeover of the health care sector!  You'll be given the mandatory opportunity to subsidize care for all the illnesses that come as consequences of sloth, gluttony, lust, rage, procrastination and stupidity.

You'll come to appreciate the superiority of Marxist notions of fairness like never before.  Decisions about health care resources will be made not on the basis of what is best for the health and vitality of the patient, but on the basis of what brings health to special interest groups and vitality to politicians.

Obamacare will be the expensive, low quality, inefficient health care rationing system you've been dreaming about for years.

You say you want government-run health care?  Ignorance is bliss...for now.

Dr. Obama, can I take my medicine now?
Democrats are now considering bypassing the traditional legislative process so that Republicans would not be able to mount a filibuster

Obama's Health Care Plan Will Require Rationing
Obama, the consummate politician, knows to offer the candy (universality) today before serving the spinach (rationing) tomorrow.

Shortage of Doctors an Obstacle to Obama Goals
Obamacare will make the shortage even worse.  The shortage that exists now is a direct result of distortions in the market created by government.

Democrats reach tentative deal to ram their health care scheme down our throats.  Will anyone read the Obamacare Bill?
