Immigration Controversy on The Other Side of The Pond

It's universal. If you disagree with the left, you're an evil, bigoted racist.

British Prime Minister Gordon Brown is embroiled in controversy over some unguarded comments he made after a "Joe the Plumber" moment with Gillian Duffy, a Rochdale voter:

Gordon Brown, David Cameron and Nick Clegg are preparing for the third and final prime ministerial debate.

But the Labour leader's preparations have been overshadowed by the fall out and negative headlines after he called a pensioner he had met "bigoted".

He has been to Gillian Duffy's house in Rochdale to apologise for his comment, which was caught on a microphone...

The BBC political editor said it was impossible to say what impact the incident with Mrs Duffy would have on voters, but with Labour trailing in the polls, he added, every day left in the campaign needed to be a good day for Mr Brown and Wednesday clearly was not.

Here's video of Gordon Brown's hateful remarks:

Gillian Duffy's reaction to Brown's insult:

The Labour party is in trouble in Great Britain. A Comres poll for the Independent/ITV News put the Conservatives up three points on 36%, Labour unchanged on 29% and the Lib Dems down three at 26%. Elections are on May 6.

Mike Perez on the Rick Amato Show

If you use Twitter, you probably know Mike Perez (@mikepfs). His is one of the most important and reliable conservative voices on Twitter. He tweets 25 hours a day, he's at the forefront of every news story, and he has 100,000 followers. In many ways, Mike is the backbone of the conservative community on Twitter.

Mike's accomplishments are particularly impressive in light of the fact that he's a grassroots conservative just like the rest of us. He doesn't have a TV show, a radio program or a New York Times best seller (yet). His success is a result of his relentless promotion of conservative principles, always delivered with polite and friendly tweets.

On Tuesday, shortly after passing the 100K follower milestone, Mike got some richly deserved recognition as "Conservative Tweeter of the Week" on the Rick Amato Show on KCBQ in San Diego. The interview with Mike starts at 14:50...

Congratulations Mike!

Mike Huckabee Isn't POTUS Material

"It hurts!"

I am convinced Mike Huckabee will never be president of the United States. He let a washed-up second-rate comedienne smack him down ―repeatedly― in a conversation about homosexual adoption. Here's Huckabee's weak, embarrassing, unconvincing, unpresidential performance:

As was noted over at Potluck Bloggers, Huckabee failed to take advantage of a number of opportunities to make a credible argument. Instead, he just rolled over.

Exit question: With all that's going on in the world, why is a supposedly-serious presidential contender wasting valuable time arguing about lesbianism with an inconsequential celebrity walrus?

Amnesty for Murder?

Amnesty is like amnesia. Forgive and forget, right?

I remember first learning the word "amnesty" at the local library. On Amnesty Day, kids could bring in their long-overdue books, and the fines would be forgotten ― forgiveness for minor transgressions. It got the kids off the hook and the books back where they belonged.

That was the conceptual framework supporting the Immigration Reform and Control Act, signed into law in 1986 by Ronald Reagan. But amnesty did not work as intended:

The lesson from the 1986 experience is that such an amnesty did not solve the problem. There was extensive document fraud, and the number of people applying for amnesty far exceeded projections. And there was a failure of political will to enforce new laws against employers. After a brief slowdown, illegal immigration returned to high levels and continued unabated, forming the nucleus of today’s large population of illegal aliens.

The immigration problem is literally out of control now. Innocent people are dying. The southern border is rife with deadly violence and anarchy, as Governor Jan Brewer of Arizona eloquently explains:

In reaction to tough new legislation designed to crack down on the drug crime and human trafficking at the Arizona/Mexico border, supporters of the status quo have physically attacked police:

Just imagine if tea partiers had ever chased down a counter-demonstrator, physically assaulting police as the police escorted the counter-demonstrator away for his own safety.

Now is not the time to talk about amnesty. Now is the time to remember the mistakes of the past and to get tough on the crime at the border.

Left-Wing Hate vs. Conservative Principles

Some especially astute observations from R.S.M:

While there are parallels between Left and Right, however, it is an error to assume that Left and Right are perfectly analogous. The most successful Republican president of the 20th century was Ronald Reagan, who was accepted by conservative True Believers as one of their own. And the worst Republican presidents of the 20th century were Herbert Hoover and Richard Nixon, both of whom embraced liberal policies to the consternation of True Believers. Meanwhile, the most successful Democratic president of the past 50 years, Bill Clinton, succeeded only because he was willing to abandon many of the liberal policies favored by his party’s True Believers.

The passions of True Believers are necessary to, but are not sufficient for, political success. Obviously, it helps if the True Believers believe in things that are actually true. An irrational hostility to “moneyed interests,” pursued as a matter of principle and policy, can never result in economic prosperity. Nor will Code Pink-style pacifism result in sound foreign policy.

[snip]

The Democratic Party’s True Believers have watched the rise of the conservative Tea Party movement, which has shown the same capacity to organize discontent that characterized Team Obama in 2008. Given that kind of fired-up grassroots enthusiasm to work with, if the Republican Party can field attractive candidates, supported by competent campaign teams, the era of Hope and Change will suffer a serious setback in November.

At some level, the Coffee Party people sense this impending disaster, and it fills their hearts with Fear and Loathing.

We Will Remember

"Remember November so that we can return America to its founding principles of freedom, personal responsibility and economic liberty. We Remember November so we, our children, and grandchildren can live with the freedoms our founding fathers intended."

Remember November, but don't wait until November to get involved!

"Remember November." If that's some kind of wingnut dog-whistle, it's too high pitched for this Brit to hear.

That liberals are reduced to trying to message an effective ad into something else is merely a measurement of just how effective the ad truly is.

Jim Treacher has spanked Michael Scherer: "Thanks to Michael Scherer, now I know that our national elections are held in November to honor Guy Fawkes!"

Arizona cracks down on the murderous greed of foreign criminals

Some highlights of a new Arizona law:

  • Requires a reasonable attempt to determine the immigration status of a person during any legitimate contact made by a government official if there is reasonable suspicion that the person is unlawfully present in the U.S.
  • Requires an alien unlawfully present in the U.S. who is convicted of a violation of state or local law to be transferred immediately to the custody of ICE or Customs and Border Protection.
  • Trespassing by Illegal Aliens: Specifies that a person is guilty of trespassing if the person is present on any public or private land in the state and is not carrying his or her alien registration card.
  • Stipulates it is unlawful to encourage or induce an alien to come to or reside in Arizona if the person knows that residing in this state is in violation of law.
  • Investigations of Employers: States that it is not entrapment for law enforcement officers or their agents merely to use a ruse or to conceal their identities.
  • Establishes a class 3 felony for failing to verify employment eligibility through E-Verify or keep records of verifications.

My thoughts and the thoughts of others...

It had to be done and they did it. Thank you Arizona. Criminals who illegally enter Arizona from Mexico have created a epidemic of violence.

Arizona was right to take action...but they will be hurt for it (left-wing lawsuits, boycotts, slanderous ridicule, etc.) All of America owes Arizona our thanks and our support.

Arizona's new immigration law makes sense. In terms of resources and in terms of political will, it has become abundantly clear that the federal government refuses to make the right decisions to drive down illegal immigration.

Barack Obama disapproves of the law, saying today that it "undermine(s) basic notions of fairness that we cherish as Americans." By "basic notions of fairness," what Obama really means is "protection for foreign criminals who might be voting in the next election;" and when Obama uses the word "Americans," what he really means is "democrat politicians."

Obama is so concerned about the plight of undocumented democrats in Arizona that he's instructed the Justice Department to see if Arizona immigration bill is legal. Funny― I was hoping they'd do the same for ObamaCare.

Cracking down on the murderous greed of foreign criminals:

Q: Hey Obama, what do you do when you have ticked off most of the voters in the country?

A: Import voters from outside the country

Thank You Obama!

The natural history of an Obama promise:
.
September 12, 2008

And I can make a firm pledge: Under my plan, no family making less than $250,000 will see their taxes increase—not your income taxes, not your payroll taxes, not your capital gains taxes, not any of your taxes!

~ BHO

February 24, 2009

In order to save our children from a future of debt, we will also end the tax breaks for the wealthiest 2% of Americans. But let me perfectly clear, because I know you’ll hear the same old claims that rolling back these tax breaks means a massive tax increase on the American people: if your family earns less than $250,000 a year, you will not see your taxes increased a single dime. I repeat: not one single dime.

~ BHO

August 3, 2009

Barack Obama will keep his promise not to raise taxes on people making less than $250,000 a year, the White House said Monday, rebutting comments by administration officials that indicated otherwise.

"The president has made a very clear commitment to not raise taxes on middle-class families," White House spokesman Robert Gibbs told a regular briefing.

April 12, 2010

Millions of taxpayers earning less than $200,000 a year will pay roughly $3.9 billion more in taxes — in 2019 alone — due to healthcare reform, according to the Joint Committee on Taxation, Congress's official scorekeeper.

April 16, 2010

We cut taxes for 95 percent of working Americans just like I promised we would on the campaign... So I’ve been a little amused over the last couple days where people have been having these rallies about taxes...taxes. You would think they would be saying, “Thank you!” That’s what you’d think!
.

What about the president's remarks and the Tea Parties?

I think it was Obama with his usual condescension — except he ratcheted it up to Code Orange in snootiness — where he looks down his nose at the gun-and-god crowd, the lumpenproletariat, as he sees it. And he ridicules them because they're not grateful enough to him.

And look, it's quite obvious what he’s talking about. He thinks that they are stupid because they don't recognize that he hasn't raised their taxes.

The point is the movement began a year ago before there were any hikes in taxes, but it was a prescient movement: it understood — and it wasn't really that hard to see, although a lot of the press entirely overlooked it — that if you’re going expand the government hugely (as he has) you’re going to have to end up raising taxes. There‘s no other way.

That's why we’re all talking about a VAT.

He’s assuming that these people are paranoid or agitated because they are expecting that taxes are going to rise. We just had the chairman of the Federal Reserve, who’s not exactly a member of the Tea Party, say exactly that. In order to sustain our economy, we’re going to have to raise taxes.

April 21, 2010

John Harwood: If reducing consumption is a good idea, could you see the potential for value-added tax in this country?

Barack Obama: You know— I know that there's been a lot of talk around town lately about the value-added tax— that is something that has worked for some countries. But I haven't forgotten my promise to taxpayers making under $200,000. So there will be no VAT tax...not on my watch.

Are you as grateful for Obama as I am?

Left-wing hate

No, the left-wing hatred that I've seen is NOT equivalent to the peaceful and mild mannered dissent that I've witnessed at the tea parties over the past year. The left-wing hate is truly disgusting.

Don't Wait Until November

Ten states hold primary elections next month. The dates are shown above.

Act now to ensure the opportunity to vote for bold leadership in November. Get involved with the races in all of these states. We need to help conservative candidates in our own neighborhoods and in every corner of the country.

Pay special attention to candidates such as Marlin Stutzman in Indiana. And don't miss the special elections in Pennsylvania (feat. Tim Burns), and in Hawaii (feat. Charles Djou).

GOP victory in November won't suffice. We need conservative victory in November:

The Republican Party must break with its long-established, cautious instincts and make a bold stand for first principles of freedom and constitutional limitations on government - from full repeal of Obamacare to rolling back multitrillion dollar deficits. This is not so much reproach of past Republican conduct as it is recognition of new opportunities.

Let's stand up to the Obama agenda. Get involved in the fight NOW.

The War Against RightNetwork: Progressivism vs. Free Speech

RIGHTNETWORK will launch on television, web and mobile in the summer of 2010. Their mission is clear: to entertain, engage, and enlighten Americans who are looking for content that reflects and reinforces their perspective and worldview. RIGHTNETWORK will consistently impact the political and cultural discussions of Americans.

No Sheeples Here takes note:

RightNetwork is an exciting new site that will launch this summer. Actor Kelsey Grammer is a partner in the venture. Grammer says, “RightNetwork is filling a big gap with entertainment programs that combine compelling content with a perspective we don’t generally get from the media. We’re bringing outstanding talent and production values to our television, Internet and mobile platforms. I’m proud to be part of this team!”.

I first heard about RightNetwork from the nutroots on Twitter who are already fighting to shut down the new network. Why? Simply because they disagree. The first Amendment means nothing to these cowards:

"It's War! Help Beat Comcast/NBC Merger & Their New Right Wing Cable Network":

In the most despicable and arrogant gesture since the Citizen's United decision itself, Comcast is now partnering with Tea Baggers to create a purely right wing, cable and Internet outlet called the "Right Network"

How appalling, given that conservatives already outnumber liberals by 3-1 in the general media, and 20-1 on on talk radio. And of course, they already have the 24×7 Fox news channel. A right network almost seems redundant...

Yes, in the imaginary world in which conservatives outnumber liberals 3-1 in the general media, investors probably would see no reason to create a right-wing network. Alas, freedom-loving conservatives are incredibly underrepresented in the media on this planet.

More gnashing of teeth from the LWNJ tin foil hat club:

"Comcast partners with teabaggers to bring new right-wing broadcast network online."

When they launch, they'll have lots of content, since they've been embedded with the Tea Party Express for its tour across the country. The YouTube channel has video from key tea party locations.

They don't even try to hide it anymore. It's just outright, blatant partisanship and propaganda, brought to you by Comcast and the US Chamber of Commerce.

Note to libs: When you have an appealing, wholesome, mainstream product, there's no reason to hide.

Here are some very interesting introductory clips from RightNetwork:
